If I hadn't gotten the family special discount I would. They ordered the parts for me without even taking a deposit. Very quality people.

Anyway. I've got the pump and other parts. I plan to drain the tank first thing in the am and get after it.

I'll post progress pics and let you know how it goes.

Well... after 24" of snow, two days of downhill skiiing and two days x-country I finally got to spend some time on the truck today.

I was going to do a full write up on the fuel pump install but realized that the threads I searched to do the job were all anyone needed. So instead I'll just add some obeservations that might help some people out. I'd also like to thank everyone that chimed in on this thread with comments.

I completed the job by myself in about 5 hours today in the freezing cold. ( had to keep the door open cause of the fumes.) The truck started right up when I was done with out hesitation.

To drain the tank I funneled the gas into a 15 gallon gas can I picked up at the local tractor store. The tank lays flat on the ground and has wheels and a hose with a pump to pump the gas back out. It worked out great to save the gas and then pump it back in when I was done.

I debated about cutting the access hole, but due to a lack of abilty to fabricate a new patch right now I decided against it.

One thing I found out was that the aftermarket bolts on my rear shackles were so long they prohibited the tank from dropping all the way down. With extra hands I may have been able to find a way to drop it all the way, but after 30 minutes of trying I quit. I had the tank down far enough that I could reach through the access hole and clean and unscrew the pump bracket from there with out to much trouble. ( I have pretty small hands) After getting the new bracket and pump all situated with the new sock and all I slipped it back in and bolted everything back in.

From there I put a little fule in, checked for leaks...put more puel in and cranked her right up. One less thing on my to do list...

Now to go get some pictures to post on the snow thread... Sweet
