I'd like to either sell or trade my '97 40th. I'm asking $17,600, open to offers. I'm primarily interested in trading into an HDJ81 with cash added on my end, as the diesel range / milage has me enticed. Parts can come off the truck to keep the price negotiable as well. Let's talk cash or Diesel cruisers! I would love to hear from folks that have recommendations for importers that they've had positive experiences with as well.

This truck has been my go everywhere vehicle & campsite for 5 years. 335K on the odometer. Hot Heat, Cold AC. It is ready to go wherever you'd like. The truck has a clean NC title in my name. There is no rust on this truck. It was originally sold in New Mexico to my knowledge. Any work not done by me on the truck during my ownership was done at H&H automotive here in Charlotte, NC. Although 17600 is too steep for me, has the head gasket ever been replaced out of curiosity? New to LCs and I’m reading that they’ll go on the 1FE-FZ @ 200-300k

Asking price is just that - a place to start the conversation; happy to negotiate with a motivated buyer or keep a few parts for the next truck to keep the price down.

I think folks mileage (literally) may vary on that one. I have reason to think that it was likely done under the previous owner, but he unfortunately didn't keep records. I have not replaced it under my ownership. I discussed it maybe a year or two ago with our local shop and was advised against doing it pre-emptively. I did however perform an exhaust gas coolant test after buying the truck which passed without issue.

Happy to re-perform that test or other pertinent ones (compression, leakdown, etc) for a buyer or work having it replaced locally at H&H into the deal if someone so desired.
