Hi guys!

I am a newbee in the Toyota 80 community, being the proud owner of a 95 manual HDJ 80 for almost a year now. As many have done before me (I have read the threads), I am trying to build my own front and rear bumper. Cardboard hasn't really worked out for me, maybe because I am using too many angles or maybe bc I just suck at building it all by myself (don't really have any help). Anyway, as the title suggests I am looking for any available scan for the front/rear of the car, so that I could build the bumper using designer software. I am willing to share the final design with anyone interested.
I have no intention of selling bumpers, should this be a concern for any of vendors who do this for a living, it's just a DIY project for my car.
Any advice and help are greatly appreciated!

Believe it or not, I think I have multiple point cloud scans I did a few years ago using Skanect. I'll see if I can dig them up for you.

Sketchfab

I'll try to find the raw files tonight, but this is essentially what I scanned. If the link doesn't work go to sketchfab and search for fj80.

Mixelplix, thanks a lot for the good intention! I'll check the link today and see if I can manage

Mixelplix, thanks again for the effort, but unfortunately I was not able to extract any dimensions from the scans.
Anyone maybe have CAD model of the front of the car? Even any raw drawing will do

I can confirm both files are good. Pro-Engineer software opened them no problem. Solidworks is inferior when dealing with stl files.

3D models of the cruiser have been asked for before. None has been offered. It takes a boat load of time and effort to reverse engineer. BTDT. Most folks who spend that kind of time and effort do not give away their work for free.

Can you back-save the file from Pro-E to a .stp file or something that Inventor or Solidworks can utilize and then re-link the files?

Click “add-ins”>”scan to 3d”>enable. Then you can import mesh files. Go through the walk through for importing. Wait for computer to crash. Repeat.

Edit: this is for Solidworks

▲True▲ on most things I try

One approach is to find body shop drawings and use them for sketches on each of your main planes, the try to “fill in the blanks” from there if you want dimensioned stuff.

Best thing to do is not rely on scans for dimensions. Rely on them for matching body lines, etc

I gave that a try, Solidworks just stewed for 10 minutes or so. I killed the process before it finished. Pro-E opens the stl file in about 5 seconds FWIW...
