Hey everybody, looking for some help. I just figured out that my front KDSS cylinder clunks loudly on compression. Jumping on the driver side, step up bar, causing the vehicle to compress makes the cylinder compressed and clunk. It’s been going on for a while now, but riding more aggressive trails makes it a lot more evident.

Do I need to just straight up take this to a Toyota dealer for a KDSS drain and flush or is there a lot easier solution out there that cost less?

Is this the same post as the "clunking" one?

Don't the KDSS cylinders have rubber bushings at the ends similar to shocks? And the sway bar has rubber bushings too. I'd check those before assuming it's the KDSS cylinder itself. Even though you can cause the sound by moving one side, check all the bushings.

Hey, did you ever figure this noise out and find a resolution. Mine has started to clunk on compression recently and sounds similar to your issue.

Check in with Dr. KDSS on this one. I know he has posted ig stories of clucking cylinders and he showed one that had the piston come internally unthreaded.

Thanks! I just installed his sway bar collar device on mine hoping that would alleviate the issue but still the same. I will hit him up and see what he thinks. Thanks!

There been a few incident about the front KDSS ram piston making noise on 150 platform. Not quite sure if that is rebuild able or not. Toyota for sure did not sell the seal kits separately. So most likely you need replacement front KDSS cylinder.

There been a few people successful make their own filling device. 150 series are a bit easier as it only have one filling port. You need hydrostatic test pump that is capable at about 1000PSI and high side R134a refrigerant filling port.
