Anyone know where I can get front door lock actuators for a 97. They are no longer available new from toyota. Picked up one from partsouq that worked but from a different market, have to hold the handle when you shut the door or it auto unlocks (like most early 90 import trucks). Picked up a set of used ones from cruiser outfitters but they look to be in worse shape than mine, I know they test them but they arent refurbished and Im afraid that the motors will go out just like the ones I have. Tried to replace the motors with the really cheap amazon motors and that worked for a while but the motor seems to be too strong and has stripped out the gear on one of my doors.
There are so many models on part souq, does anyone know if there are any door lock actuators that I can use that will work like the OEM US spec?

I about to just order 2 rear door lock actuators for cheap and yank the motors out of them to rebuild the ones I have unless you guys have another great idea.
Thanks

Really expected a little more info/advice here. You guys dont have anything????

Rebuild them seems to be the current best path for the NLA ones. Search and there is a good writeup on it somewhere in this forum.

The AISIN actuators I used were exactly the same as the originals they replaced. Down to the mold marks on the plastic enclosure.

Where did you get aisin front lock actuators? I've seen rears all over for cheap but haven't seen fronts

I don’t recall. It’s been 5 years. Dorman would work fine as well. It’s not a complex mechanism. Also search to see if the 80 series actuators are easily rebuildable like the 100 and 200. It’s the $4 motor that fails. It was super easy to replace on my 200.

I've already rebuilt them, the new motor was too strong and stripped the plastic gears, that's all in my original post.

I don't believe aftermarket front door lock actuators are available any longer. Rears are easy to find but no fronts.

I'm probably just going to refurbish the mechanisms I got from cruiser outfitters with motors out of the inexpensive rear actuators I grabbed from partsouq so I have the Toyota splined motor and side soldered connections, these seemed to be the weak link with my last rebuild. Won't be cheap but should be good as new once I'm done. Thanks guys

Not seeing any front options either. Sounds like we need to identify the correct motor replacement.

Are you sure your used/secondhand motors came from Cruiser Outfitters? I didn't think that was an item they'd sell (not used anyways...)

Which motors did you use for your replacement?

I'm interested in this too. My problem isn't the motors, it's the plastic ring connections inside the actuator that have split and start "skipping". The motor is fine, but the arms slip under load.

Apologies, parts came from cruiser parts llc. not cruiser outfitters. My bad.
Those are the motors I used, the shaft on the OEM motor is splined and the amazon parts are smooth. The OEM motors have wiring points on the side and the amazon parts have the wiring points on the rear and are not solder joints but internal blade contact points. Real-estate is tight in the housing and makes both of those issues complicated with replacement.
I disassembled the used parts today and replaced all the lubricant. Hopefully this will work out . If not I will source the OEM rear actuators from partsouq (cheaper than US parts) and Ill just yank the motors out of those and put them into my used parts. Should be good to go for several more years after that.

I had the same problem and got tired of taking the doors apart to fix the motors when the epoxy kept failing. So I purchased new actuators for the rear and just removed the motors and stuck them in the front. Not a cheap option but I don't have to deal with it anymore.

If your arm has a cracked ring and no longer grips there is a guy making them. So far has made the arm for the rear left/drivers and the rear hatch (they are the same). I got two because these were my trouble doors.

I am going to take him the other door arms to get the file made so the parts will be available.

AISIN rear door lock actuators are still available (RockAuto) and IIRC the left rear also fits the hatch. AFAIK there (still) aren't any aftermarket front door lock actuators available for the 80 Series.
