I thought it called for GL-4 or GL-5 SAE 90w gear oil. No?

My bad, the picture I posted is for transfer case and not for front Diff?

So would GL-5 80W90 with LSD b OK for front differential?

Thanks

10 mm allen head socket didn't fit for me. I used 5/16" ....and a generous amount of PB blaster .... and a breaker bar

I'm going to ask what is probably a really dumb question....if the torque setting for these is 35 to 36 ft-lbs, why does it practically take a breaker bar to take off the fill and drain plugs? Pretty sure they've never been removed or, knowing who the PO was he had the dealer do it previously.

Any thoughts?

Dirt/grim and constant temperature changes might have something to do with it.

You mean 7/16" ?

Dealers have no time for torque settings. Rattle gun everything. Destroying underbelly bolts, drain plugs, wheel bolts, etc.

Ordering the stuff necessary to do this now. One of the washer kits available on amazon with washers for the front and rear diffs plus transfer case, https://www.amazon.com/Differential...8&qid=1533748578&sr=1-13&keywords=90430-18008 , includes part #90430-24003 for the front diff drain; it's copper, i.d. 24, o.d. 32, which is bigger than the one mentioned at the beginning of this thread. Anyone know which is correct for an '05 LX470?

Thanks..

It would be great if we knew what size the filler/drain plug was some say 10mm some 5/16 some say 15/16. I need to purchase the correct one.

Just a little tip... don't put the magnetic plug in the fill hole. Some idiot did that and ruined two perfectly good days.

Ya i saw that thread during my research.

Umm, just to be clear. Are you referring to the deep plug that sticks further into the diff? The low profile ones are immune to that.

Yeah, I had the magnetic plug where the magnet extended maybe 1/2"-3/4" out of the plug itself. When I got a new one from the dealer, based on the part number I looked up, it looked just like my old one. The transfer case plug had the low profile/recessed magnet on my truck.

I can laugh at it now. Then, not so much. Now... drilling out a broken EZout is today's fun.
