Alright, my father bought this beast in 1997 and I have just bought it from him within the last three months. ($3000 :D) Of course he only changed the oil and replaced things that outright broke so I am in the process of baselining everything and preforming preventative maintainence.

I popped my front diff check plug earlier today while at work so I could replace the fluid for free, I quickly found that the diff fluid was the original stuff (Hit 100k miles yesterday). The fluid was green and had some bubbles in it. I assume that the bubbles are from water but what would cause the fluid to be green? I flushed and replaced with GL5, same with the rear diff. Another thing to note, the magnetic drain plug was caked with metal shavings, moreso than I normally see; however the diff works perfectly. Any ideas? It has no f/r lockers.

The rear diff seemed to have the right color with a hint of yellow, which seems fine to me, I flushed it anyway.

So far...
Chevron Delo 400 oil with a Fram Toughguard filter (Yes, I know they suck :( )
F/R Differentials flushed/filled with GL5 fluid
Transmission flushed
New airfilter
F/R EBC Green pads
F/R Generic blank rotors
PCV/hose Replaced (Yes, pointless but it was free)

Anything else I should do? It has 100k miles on it and runs very well, has a minor minor minor leak from the valve cover gasket. I'll be doing the PHH when I have time here. The EGR valves are throwing the notorious codes, but I don't really have the money to mess with them so I'll be leaving it alone. It never overheats and there is no sludge in the radiator; it was always filled with Toyota coolant (I get it free :) ). Birfs were done at around 70k and seem fine, not sure how to tell though. There is no excessive amount of grease on the ball area.

:) Thanks

If it's an olive type green it's most probably contaminated from the birf's grease. If the inner axle oil seal was incorrectly installed or damaged during fitment or your diff breathers are blocked contamination is likely to occur.

That sounds like the right color :( Guess it's time to rip apart the axle sometime soon.
