This thread is funny. What man with any sort of dignity and self-respect doesn't have a drill at home?! :flipoff2:
You're missing the point. I have a drill. I don't have a reamer (whatever that is), a machine shop or a welder. That's why I bought a bolt-on bumper!

You have to drill 4 holes for the stinger... honestly if your having a had time understanding why then please re-read the directions. Also note that your getting a first gen bumper that has only been on my rig. If it doesnt fit your rig then there's subtle differences in our frames. Also please note that this bumper system.. hell my company is less than 3 months old. I hope that your taking all things into consideration before you cast any thoughts or opinions. I'm sorry if its an issue for you and goes against what you had envisioned. I strive everyday to come a mm closer to perfecting everything I do. All those battles are hard fought by both parties involve (me vs. steel). Please PM me if there's anything else. Thank you. We're getting there one step at a time.

Jason

Wow drilling holes to ensure perfect alignment for the stinger on YOUR truck is that big a deal??? Hell for the 4x4labs bumper you have to cut the entire back of your frame off!! Lol. You want a modular, bolt together bumper, but you don't want the builder to be able to allow for any slight imperfections in what are 20 year old trucks??? This to me reeks of people that have never built anything. If UnderDawg built everything sloppy enough to be able to fit every frame out there then you would complain it was not a tight fit. Can't have your cake and eat it too boys.

Thanks Scott.

You probably never pulled a 12mm pipe plug and filed a knuckle 3/4 of the way full of molygrease, dealt with floppy sunvisors, slow windows, and roof rack rust either but none of these are huge deals and part of owning/modifying an 80. If you want to buy a modular, cheap to ship, bolt together bumper, drilling 4 holes is kind of the trade off you get. There is no way for anyone to predict or account for what has happened to any of these trucks in the last 15-20 years. Your frame horns could be slightly tweaked, etc

Can't see sigs on phone app the lesson still applies. Modular bumper, cheap to ship, bolt together, you might have a little work to do. If you want fully welded it looks like he is doing that now as well as Slee, etc. So take the money you saved on shipping and have the hoop welded, or buy a drill bit. This is not like he is making you fab anything.

And before anyone gives me any s*** about being a nutswinger, I have never met UnderDawg, haven't bought one of his products, don't really find his bumper design desirable for me since I bent Slee's bumper that has considerably more beef in the middle. But I also feel like people's expectations to deliver a fit everything bolt together bumper have gotten out of control even though it was UnderDawg that opened the door. :flipoff:

Well ... I did open that can. The new bumper is completely different than this one. No pieces to put together but still probably some hole reaming. Really I dont think its a big deal... but then I dont think jumping out of a plane at 30k is a big deal either. Like I said before I want everyone to be satisfied. I can only do what I can though and im about maxed out right now.

I have 3 of the rock crusher bumpers built and powder coated ready to ship if your interested in one. Ill let them go cheaper than than I have thrm posted on my other thread. PM me for price and shipping quote. These are ready to ship. Thanks guys.

I know... I was gonna message you... good stuff there though. Still coming to Cali and still planning on wheeling. I gotta get to Yosemite.

Had a customer drive down from Michigan to get a rack and bumper.. he's on his way home now but will be posting up about his experience today. Should be a good review. We had a good time installing his rack. Ill leave the rest for him to tell.

This is more about the rack, but I'll share it here...

So, I ordered a rack from Jason. Being that I live MODERATELY close, I decided to save on shipping and pick it up myself. I also asked Jason if he would help me install it. I live in a small town, most of my friends are far away and I knew it was going to be a two man job. Jason said no problem, so I PayPal'ed him the money and then scheduled a pickup on one of my free weekends.
I got to Jason's house and checked the rack out. It looked great. Rack looks great, welds are solid, powdercoat is perfect. I texted my wife and said "I'm here, should be about 30 min to install". Yeah, I was wrong. First, Jason hadn't yet drilled the mounting holes because he wanted to be sure that the holes would line up with my mounts (Gamiviti). I thought, "Well damn, that's a good idea." I would have been screwed if something was off. So, rather than pre-drill them, he waited for me. We measured twice, drilled once and the thing fit perfectly.

Then we ran into problem #2. Gamiviti failed to include the second set of allen bolts/washers/nuts for the top half. So, Jason and I hopped in his cruiser and he drove me to Home Depot and I bought bolts. This had a hidden benefit in that it allowed time for the paint that he applied to the fresh holes to dry (to stop any rust from getting started on fresh steel). Again, another problem avoided that I wouldn't have considered.
Finally, we muscled the rack up top and Jason and I got it fitted and started tightening it down. Jason looked down from my truck and said "Do you think insert vendor name here, I'll leave it out to avoid drama would be out here on a Sunday helping you install this?" I laughed and said "Uh, no."
So, in summary, my experience was top notch. I am very happy with the product and Jason spent 3 hours of his time that he had previously allocated to watching the Browns lose to help me out. Anyway, on to the pics!

Bonus pics of some VERY scientific load bearing testing. Jason said he weighs about 200lbs. That's probably the only questionable part of the experience, LOL. In the words of Jim Carey.. "YEAH, IN YOUR BRA!" But seriously, the rack support his full weight with no issues. I'm 100% certain that my planned RTT and jerry cans will be fine.

BUT WAIT! There's MORE! I was so happy with the rack... and so determined to drain my holiday budget... that I decided to buy a bumper as well! We didn't get that installed... and I honestly probably won't have time for a few weeks. But stay tuned for pics of that installed soon! I am very happy. I now have a rack and a winch bumper. :)

And yes, Jason told me that I may have to ream a little, tweak a little. I know that this is going to be the case with anything that I mount, as the previous owners of my truck did hit a deer. My frame LOOKS straight, but looks can be deceiving. I plan on a bit of drilling, a bit of pulling and a bit of BFH'ing. I'm still undecided on whether or not I will be welding my wings on or not. I don't rock crawl... I just want a bumper that will push through some trails.

So, next question is... time to fill out my Christmas list. Any recommendations on a fairlead and rope? Pretty sure that I will be going synthetic.

Hey Dawg un-assin a plane at 30k??? Sounds like a HALO to me dude! Rock on brother!

Dawg. You keep doing what you are doing and chasing your dream. I speak for many on this forum who have started many things on their own...wether a business, a journey, a life trial or a dream and they have persevered..."blood, sweat and tears"...that is what dreams are built on. I passionately read your forum...feel your pain and quietly celebrate your victories. Taking 3 hours on a Sunday to spend time with a client, waiting to drill pilot holes for their roof rack brackets, painting the drill areas to ensure paint is correct and eliminate chance for rust, running to home depot with them to purchase nuts and bolts for roof brackets they brought...this is what will continue to set you apart from the competition - pride, ownership, selfless sacrafice and OWNING THE CLIENT EXPERIENCE!!! Keep doing what you are doing ... Makes me proud to be an American and quiety support someone chase their dream.
