I need to replace my front brake pads. I ordered a shim kit with the magic grease along with the pads. My question is, where do I use the grease?

I didn't see and mention of it in the FSM. That would be my guess though. How about the back of the pads?

White arrow <== Disk brake grease.

Well, brakes are done and I have to say that they were the easiest brakes I've ever done. Kudos to Toyota for the design, I just wish the pads would last longer.

How long did the previous set lasted for you? Are you using 100's series front pads?

I think there were Bendix pads on there before and they lasted 20k. I replaced them with the Toyota stock pads from cdan for the 80 series. Can I run 100 series pads w/o changing anything?

I run them on my 97, w/o the shims. The shims wont fit.

Do they squeal at all and how many miles do you get out of them?

Put OEM 100s series pads in with new rotors on my 97 60K ago and NEVER heard a single squeal. There is still about 6mm left on the front pads but I'm dong another break job this weekend as I'm upgrading to drilled and slotted rotors and Ceramic 100s series pads up front.

FYI- $355 shipped got me New US made Power Stop slotted and drilled rotors, 100 series front ceramics and 80 series rear ceramics -- Shipping was free! These are the same rotors that Slee sells for $129/rotor. BuyBrakes.com just got me what I needed and saved me over $300. Christo will get my money for something else eventually.

FYI for those of you looking to upgrade rotors and pads.

WOW great price, was that for 4 rotors?
Post some pics of the install

Otamiway, are you running 100 series pads on 80 series rotors and what kind of milage are you getting out of the pads?

Only have 5K on them and they still look new...

BTW - No squeaks on factory rotor. Much better pedal feel IMHO
