so whats the deal with all these new birfields.marfield, longfield, newfield, anyone runnin them?whats the best one for the money?any info appreciated.

they are stronger birfields that have been modified

some actually use new axles and u joints

i will write this slowly as you don't read to fast! WHITCH ONE IS BETTER!!!!!!!!!!

I already asked this question and here's what i got for an answer

Marfield is basically Newfield.

Newfield is made of new axle and joints.

Longfield is from old Birfield with a welded ring and have been heat treated to make the metal less brittle and is equally strong as Newfield.

They have recommended me to get the Longfield, because according to them it has more value for money.

correction...Longfield is STRONGER than the Newfield. I busted up a handful of Newfields and now run Longfields. Better price too, and the guy now heat treats inner axles to add more strength in the system.

Newfields are the ticket if you run a LOT with the hubs locked since their harder casting will have more durability than the softer Longfield. (ie, you have a 60-62 series and it's a dailt driver and you keep the hubs locked in for those occasional slippery snowy days...)

If you run extreme trails tho, the Longfield is the ticket.
