I'm posting this because it may happen to you someday , and this might save you hrs of useless troubleshooting .
When my speakers were being installed today , the install guy mentioned that my battey got VERY low . I attribute this to my many short runs from my condo to the core , and back day after day .. without enough running time to fully charge .. should have got another Optima , I guess .
Anyway , as I leave realize the alarm won't activate ... I return home .. get ready to head out for the nite , and decide to drive into the US .. I figure because of my destination
, I'd better get my install guy to trouble shout the alarm . 90 mins later we discover that the antenna is fried . It would accept a signal from the remote , but not receive the signal back . The install guy was on the phone with Vipor tech dept. and they figure that if for any reason he had hit the remote while the battery ebbed as low as it had , that too much current may have been drawn thru it , resulting in it being more or less fried . He wired up a new antenna free , and out I went .. felt like s***e though .. driving up , and stealing his attention on a busy nite .. both of us thinking it would be a quick fix , only to invest over an hour hunting down the real culprit . Great service from him though .. when he installed the Viper system for me , he even gave me his home number , and told me to call him from B.C. if I ran into any problems ! I always keep him stocked in coffee and donuts as he works ... told me tonite the 3 coffees I left him today were life savers .. *L* . He worked alone , and I doubt the poor bugger got a single break . . .
Just a heads up in case you run into a suddenly inoperable alarm .
TY
