SO my A/C went out. Not blowing really any cold air this year. Put the guages on it and it was sitting about 5psi. So went down to NAPA yesterday and bought 3 cans of freeze 12. It's a drop-in replacement for the r-12. Was around $10 a can 12oz. I could have gotten it for around 8 across the street from my work at the HVAC supply house but was already home.
So I put a vacuum on the low side line and pulled it down for 30 min. Then cranked the cruiser up and started filling it up. You use about 10% less freon with freeze 12. The 80 I have uses 2.09 of r-12. Which caculated into about 30.1 oz. of freeze 12. So about 2 1/2 cans. Takes a while to get all the freaon out of the can. The radiator exhaust helps keeping the cans warm. All in all it took me an hr to do. I now have 33 degree A/C on high.
Good times.
