If anyone is considering the purchase of a used Landcruiser or LX-470, I would recommend it be taken to a body shop for inspection of the undercarriage. I purchased a 2000 LX_470 with 66,000 miles. The exterior and interior were in excellent condition. As a result of an issue with the rear air conditioner line, I've learned the entire underside of the vehicle is rusted severely. Lexus Customer Care and Lexus Rivercenter in Covington, Ky have been of no assistance.

sorry, to hear that. Is is surface rust or rustthrough? I bought one from Florida for this exact reason. I would think you would have some sort of legal recourse if this was not properly disclosed at the time of sale.

Bummer. Did you buy from private party? I don't really expect Lexus to stand behind anything on a 12 year old rig unless you bought it from them and it had some additional warranty. Some pics of the rust might help to. I'm not quite getting how they came to the conclusion that it was the rear AC that rusted the whole underside. I've seen lots of eastern and northern rigs that had bad undercarriage rust but looked ok up top due to winter salt but being garage kept.

Interesting. We really need some pics and a better description of how the rear ac caused the issue. Exactly where is the frame rust?

doesn't sound like the AC problem caused the rust. but rather the rust caused the AC problem. IIRC, there was someone else who had a problem with corroded rear AC lines. And I think they're a bugger to fix.
