SOLD - Frame-Off Restored M416 Trailer (Independent Airbag Suspension, Kitchen, RTT)

SOLD

Hi guys,

I built this because "I always wanted one" and not really because I need it (though I really enjoyed this trailer and I really enjoyed building it). I can probably ship it nationwide for about $800 to $1000.

No expense was spared in the build and I probably have about 200 hours I figure (6 months with regular work) in its construction. EDIT: Price Drop: $4700 Trailer only, $5900 with ARB Tent. I also have a lead on a brand new Mombasa tent for $500 that could also work...

  • Frame off sandblast and restoration
  • Tongue extended 18"
  • Lid with ladder rack in frame design to secure 6 military cans (plastic or metal, fuel or water)
  • Slide out kitchen drawer, food storage, cooking surface
  • Paint is "ZeroRust" which is similar to POR-15 buy better cosmetics and a rust bonding paint that is what the USMC uses for their tan drab. Tan body, black frame and fenders.
  • ARB Simpson II Roof Top Tent mounted on Thule cross bars
  • Aluminum Rims, BFG 33 x 10.5 All Terrains
  • Built extremely tough and heavy duty. It has also been trail tested and performed flawlessly. The cross member where the arms mount is a little tweaked due to its thin metal after heavy off-roading so I am about to cut it out and put in a new crossmember with thicker steel and I will re-align with a laser.
  • Fenders widened by 2"
  • Re-use and design using the factory military turn signals, which were restored.
  • Complete frame off restoration including new wiring
  • 20 Cal Ammo Can used as electrical center box and storage. "Smart" wiring that uses a plug extension that adapts to any 7 pole plug.
  • Trailer is completely locking using its own matching key (several copies of original factory lock keys included)
  • Trailer tows perfectly and at all speeds, on or off road. The technique to towing this trailer is "pretend its not there" and it will literally "follow" you anywhere. I found it matched the track of my Toyota perfectly which made it excellent for off road.

Let me know if you have any questions. Located in Park City, Utah (20 minutes east of Salt Lake City). Asking $6500 with the ARB tent or $5200 without. Pretty firm on price. Here is the complete build thread here on the Expedition Portal. EDIT Price Drop $4700 Trailer Only, $5900 with ARB Tent. I also have a lead on a possibly Mombasa tent for $500.

Thanks guys...

I'm not sure how $$ I'm into it. I have the receipts but am scared to look :)

I priced it compared to a lot of the adventure trailers out there I considered it similar to. They are going for $9-$10G. This one is not an AT but I feel its comparable so I thought it was a fair price, somewhere around where I'm asking to even $8G or so I figured as all this work was completed earlier this year...

Also Max yes I'm pretty sure an ARB/Engel would fit fine between the cans and the tailgate. I have put an expandable wiring scenario so if you put a 6 or 7 wire setup in your tow vehicle you can provide 12V to your fridge. I also think the ARB/Engel would also fit just fine in front of the fuel cans as well as I believe they are about the same size as a Coleman stainless in all but I believe the largest model. That said I don't own one so I'm not 100% certain. The electrical box is designed so you can add a battery as well.

I can't believe it. What a killer setup. Very nicely done, sad to see you are selling it...wants vs. needs, right?

I met your shopmate Scott up in Washington this weekend...(shows were great, BTW)

Exactly, wants versus needs...

I knew someone would see Scott's built 80... Awesome you got to go.. Jealous, sounds like it was just **awesome** from everyone I talked to :)

The wife is convinced, now it's a matter of figuring out timing. A trailer really appeals to me, I'm thinking of putting a pop-top on my 62 so we can sleep up high with access to the inside of the cruiser with the gear in the trailer (all those pesky bears that keep popping up in Utah campgrounds...)

I've been watching trailers the last few months and yours seems to be priced really well.

Holy hell.

sniff....your fab skillz have come so far since the days of changing 60 plugs in my rental shop.....sniff....

Unreal. Great work.

Seriously Dan it's not even funny....

For the record guys jeez about 10 years ago? I could hardly even change my oil... Dan (Rabid) (when I was up at University of Vermont) and even Tyke to an extent were sorta my go to when my cruiser addiction was beginning.. No where to work on trucks, let alone not knowing a damn thing about them... :)

Agreed Dan, seriously I get sentimental thinking about those old days myself, sniff sniff... :)

I also miss Vermont too, a lot. I thought I'd be there for life. Very happy out here in Utah though... :)

makes me feel lazy for not progressing as far in my fab skills. You really are doing great work.

Hell, I was not much (if any) better back in the day. Good luck with the sale.

Side note: the cost of living vs pay scale here has gotten so out of hand, that I am not sure I will be in vermont much longer, sadly. No real plans yet, but you never know.

The cost of living has gotten out of hand EVERYWHERE!

DCH: Nice work on your trailer. As mentioned above this thread is almost better than a build thread ;). Sorry to hear you have to move it along to the next owner with so much thought and sweat that went into it!

Good luck with the sale!

If you can take some heat, come to Texas, Dan, "Live Free or Die" translates well down here, cost of living is significantly lower than the East Coast and the Austin area is a great place to raise a family! Utah's awesome, though, I'd live out there in a second if I had the right work opportunity.

I still miss the carefree days of the Fall Gathering, 14+ hour drives with my best friend, cool people, great trails and scenery, always one of my favorite events!

Flights are cheap, plenty of passenger side seats, and the fall gathering is a ball. You know you guys are always welcome.

New england in the fall....you know you miss it.
