Jim's (Cruiser_Nerd) post in Project Krusty on what do do with three 25s and him maybe selling one made me think about one of mine. I have two I plan on keeping, one for parts and then there's the fourth one. What to do with this one? 1. Put in later running gear out of a 40, later F engine, three speed, 40 axles and sell it. 2. Restore it with the original parts, F120, four speed with the single speed transfer and 25 axles and then sell it. 3. Just parting the whole thing out. I was leaning towards number 1 because that would leave other parts to sell and would probably be the most profitable. Two would be what I would like to do but I don't think it would be easy to find someone to pay real money for a original 25. As for 3 I see a few parts being in great demand then stuck with what's left. So what do you guys think? Phil (FJnotCJ) what are your plans for your hoard? Who else has more than one and wondering what to do. I do have a snow plow too but with the lack of snow lately in Northern Arizona I'll probably pass on that option.

2. how much is real money anyway? or let somone else do the work. Shame to part a 25 if it's all there if you ask me.

I was thinking of putting the original tranny and transfer in Krusty and staying original because that would have been easiest. Changing stuff = more work than just finishing it the way I started. But........the biggest drawback for me would be losing my good spare FJ25 drivetrain. :crybaby:

I think the most practical approach for sale would be........later F engine, H42 four speed, late model transfer and late model axles with disc brakes up front. Most anyone willing to pay for a complete 25 would probably want a practical turn key driver. I'd avoid the 3 - speed, drum brakes, and original drivetrain... :grinpimp:

Otherwise if you didn't want to do the work, I would say just sell the tub and nose and someone wanting to build a rig could just have the shell and build it however they want. :D

So, I'd say 1ish or 3ish.

This is my plan, 'cept I'm using a 2F and throwin' in the Toybox for good measure in between the H42 and a split case :D

Mine will also look more like an FJ25ish soft topp'd buggy. Kinda like Nick's.

That would be your spare tub, in your spare time? :D Leave that paint on it, and you won't have to add any armor...... :flipoff2:

OK 2F, H42, disk brake axle and three speed transfer case. While I'm at it why not a later steering box, bell crank and a Fairey overdrive. Unless something happens on the soft top replacement project no top, if the tops are made I would probably put on my aftermarket top and doors . So what do you think the value is of a FJ25 restored with these parts?

Phil are you out there? I don't have five but I was trying to help you out. When the new one showed up here in Phoenix recently I thought about offering them my FJ40 factory soft top in trade. Then I thought just what I need another vehicle I hit my hip on when getting in and out, plus bang my elbow on while steering.

how about a lexus V8, full time gearbox and T case from an 80 or 100, coil it, on 80 diffs, and turn it into a mean ass wheeler

What to do, what to do....I don't know about you guys, but I am finding Time to be my rarest comodity. John, I think we are tied now, and in a similar fix: two 25s on the mend, a third that will have to wait, and a parts rig I don't have time to part out...the fifth is the '61 40 for the Wife, it gets priority due to the current political situation here on the homestead

Anyway, I just chuck parts at the third 25 as I aquire them, maybe I'll get around to assembling it to stock specs someday, but it wouldn't break my heart to see it go away in a few years either....I just won't spend any time on it any time soon and I'm not worried about the minimal return on my minimal investment (if it can be called that) So I guess I'm doing a #2, 'cept I'm not assembling it...or selling just yet

"Gee what's next? You going to put a bezel on it and change the wheel well opening?"

:D :D :D
