'71 FJ40 with 48,000 miles on it. I talked to the guy at length last night and he said he's going to have to sell it. Unfortunately he will be asking a price that can only be found by going the fleabay route. I offered to help in any way but this thing is solid. Besides the original owner installing a step bumper there are really no other mods. I meant to take a pic when I was there but I can get those any time.

Then get pics now! :) sounds lovely, I'd like to see it and bet I'm not alone. I wish I had a spare $25,000 or $30,000 laying about!

Freeborn red with a factory pto winch. I could not find a single rust spot but didn't climb underneath. He's thinking in the $13K mark and I think it's an honest $10K truck as it sits. Put a grand into it and it's probably a $20K truck in this market. Hard to find one that clean that hasn't been touched by the rust devils that reside here in the PNW. I'll try and get by and shoot some pics. My camera is on the fritz but the phone works pretty well. Wish I had the $$ myself.

Watching what they are selling for at auction, I'd say he needs to check into that arena for selling it.

No rust and totally original? $13k would be a steal. I imagine he could get nearly twice that if he has all the documentation and he puts it in front of the right audience. I'm no expert though.

I'll try and swing by on my way home and take some pictures. It's no fjfjfj but it wouldn't take much.......

I was at the Barrett-Jackson auction last Saturday in Reno and saw this one, go for $34,100.

Pretty good restoration, minus the bezel and there was quite a bit of surface rust on the rear heater. Engine wasn't as clean as I thought it could be..

never mind.....

I saw that one. One in Ct sold recently for mid $20,000 in daily driver config, bad paint and an upside-down Bezel.

Finally got some pics

He has the actual stock wheels but no tires on them. The original owner had the bumper built and painted the top.:bang: I'm curious if the black would just come out with rubbing compound. I may go help the guy shine this up, it looks like it will polish up real nice.

Very difficult to get black paint off a white fiberglass hard top. The P.O. of my '74 sprayed the top with some black goop that was nearly impossible to get off, and I tried everything.

that might actually be real miles on that one.

besides the top, I think part(driver side) of the body has been repainted at some point

Yeah, the original owner owned a logging company. There are also two strange reflectors beside the rear hatch. And if you look in the rear corners in the side shot there is some kind of support for a light roof rack.
