I was at Williams Gateway airport (old Williams AFB) in S. Mesa today and spotted something of interest. Next to the control tower on the East side of the runway is a FJ60 being parted out. I have never seen this in Arizona before, only down under have I witnessed a LC wagon in a yard. I don't know who owns this, nor do I care. There are a few other vehicles in the dirt lot but it was the 60 that caught my eye. Thats what it is A DIRT LOT.
From the firewall forward has been stripped. Just frame rails. There's no axles, front seats, and missing two doors (can't remember which ones). Carpet is still there (seemed to be in good shape just dirty), so is the bench back seat and back rest. Insrument panel is still there and so is the center swich overlay. The rear upper and lower tailgate sections are dented.
Location: Sossaman and Velocity Way, about 200 yard due east of the control tower and where Boeing is overhauling F-5's/T-38's.
There are no fences to go thru, gates to pass. I pulled up next to it, went thru it and nobody gave me any trouble or said a word.
I don't know how long it's gonna be there, but if you want FREE parts go take a look.
