Good to see you're still enjoying it. I like that such a rare to find truck is all Toyota DNA, so I would vote for the 1hdt or maybe a 1FZ?
Looking forward to some more updates. In the meantime here is my FZJ80 in the same color code. It's my favorite 2 tone offered for the 80 series. I think yours is the only flareless 80 I've seen in this color combination.

Your rig is nice. I don’t think I’ve ever seen another fzj80 in the same color scheme. That color is usually found on fj80. There’s a US poverty pack thread in here and haven’t seen any other ones on that thread in the same color scheme but anything is possible.

I agree, I think mine deserves to be all Toyota. I’ve been told by a few other 80 owners that I should swap to 5spd. They said it would make a reasonable difference in extracting the additional power of the 3fe. I’ll definitely post more when I start the swap. You have plans with yours?

Love this thread! Can't wait for paintjob. I hope you stick with the original colors.

LS is the most practical and best performance, but I think this rig deserves a 1HDT to fit the theme. UZ not enough of an upgrade over a 1fz, IMO.

Thank you, I appreciate that. Thought did cross my mind to only paint it silver. I later saw what the lower body color looks like in the sun and the combination is great. So definitely sticking with the factory colors.

Appreciate the feedback on the engine swap. Mines currently a 3fe so any swap will make a big difference. Haha

The silver/blue gray 2 tone was offered on FZJ80 only 1993-1994 for the US trucks, but I've seen it more on the FJ80 also.
Not much planned for mine, maybe some 285 KO3's and keep up on the maintenance.
Keep us posted with your project!

I agree. I do tend to see more FJ80s with this color combo. Fun facts!

Well, I’ve been driving this 80 for many years and haven’t had to do a single thing other than oil changes. This past month a drive belt snapped and my power steering pump died. The ps pulley also was damaged in the process.

Trying to find another pump isn’t easy. In the end I decided to give an aftermarket pump a try. Based on a few peoples experiences they seemed to work well except for the pulley being the wrong one. Luckily I was able to locate another oem pulley.

I also got tired of my pitted front windshield so I bought a new one & installed it today. Install was easy. The cowl took longer to reinstall but it all turned out great. I’m excited to drive the vehicle in HD.

Lastly I scored a uncracked Fj80 dash & I’ll be using this to make molds to reproduce them. I’ll make another thread just for that later.

More updates soon.

Loving the crack free dash and very interested in the repops, my 91 has a tectonic dash (the PO dino boy would've laughed at that🤣)

it’s getting harder to find uncracked dashes & this one is easy. I also have two uncracked fzj80 dashes to make molds. Those will be made in grey since they’re NLA.

This is a dash I’m currently manufacturing. Almost done with this one. This shows the end product.
