Mark your propeller shafts so you can put them back in the same orientation, slide out the slip yokes and clean out all the old grease that's sitting in the bottom of the splined cavities. I did a quick test drive afterward, and the vibration is completely gone. Mine had dried up grease of 3 different colors inside. It was all packed into the bottom of the cavity, and was absolutely the cause of the low level hum and vibration at 50+.

This may not work in every case, but I see a ton of threads on this (I've even posted one 😉) and this is a cheap, easy diagnostic. I replaced u joints, the entire front end, CVs, wheel bearings (all this was needed anyway) and had no luck. As soon as I cleaned and regreased, it's gone. Hope this helps someone!

...and me as well...

Idiot here..

Obviously since you installed the DS back in you won't be able to snap pics of the cavity, but after viewing several threads on driveshafts, I never found a picture of the splined slip joint. How easy or hard is it to separate the DS and put it back without messing up the seal?

Awesome man! Any chance of posting a few pictures of the location, for idiots like me? Thanks

So everything is back together, but there are two halves of each drive shaft, and they're fairly easy to get apart. They'll have some suction on them because of the grease and seal but just pull them apart with one end on the vehicle. Check your splines for play. Mine looked good. The hardest part is starting the splines, if anything.

Be sure to mark the two halves across from each other before you take them apart, so you can put them back together on the right splines.
