1972 FJ40....a.k.a. Gundy.
Offer I shouldn't refuse. Decision day is tomorrow.
I very torn.
I don't need the $ but the truck just doesn't get enough use.
I don't want to see it decline and can't justify putting money in it
to stave off aging.
A numbers matching truck deserves better.
(takes a deep breath)
Maybe the dude will back off. I doubt it however. He's coming by tomorrow.
He knows the truck. I've known him for 10 years. Knows/drives Toyota.
Damn.
I've owned Gundy for over 30 years.
I'm thinking of it's interest too.
The $ would be nice.
Do I love it enough to let it go?
*&%*#$@ I bet I won't sleep well tonight.
It's Turkey Snow Cone Time.

I have had one for over 25 years now, and i am not too sure i could ever sell it.

If the truck's best interest wasn't part of this equation I'm not sure I could.
Heck...who am I kidding? If the offer wasn't obscene I wouldn't sale.

I threw in one of my R/C 40s and the Zip-Zap 40s as well.
He's one happy guy. We watched some old GSMTR, Hush Hole, Horsepasture
etc videos together this evening. He's stoked. We drove about 20 miles
together and split the driving. Pickup tomorrow. Paid the $$$$$ tonight.
He didn't want me to sleep on it. Lynn got all teary eyed and walked back to the house.
Gundy was her Grandfather's nickname. We named the truck after him.

Gundy has a good new home. He'll be missed but never forgotten.

Can't believe this, thought it was a joke at first. If she gets the kind of rough and muddy use any good LC deserves that's a good thing to come out of this though.

Never thought I'd see the day, glad the old girl went to a good home!

What new toy is going to replace this one David :grinpimp:

I've been wanting to supercharge the Sprite.

I still have TWO Cruisers. My back can't risk the trails.

As for NEW toy......wife likes the panache of the G wagons. Lockers.
Maybe a new Land Cruiser. I have always had a soft spot for V8s.

I REALLY do like those Fiat Abarths.

Now that the "cherry" is popped I might even thin the herd some more.

Ditch the SEL go G-Wagon.

Ditch the 60 let some friend build the 80.

Safety takes priority over fuel economy.
But those darn Fiats are are zippy but sippy too.
I will not drive the LBCs after dark if possible.
One deer....one ran stop sign.....
I survived both such high speed collisions without a bruise in a MB and a Cruiser.
Nope...make mine a tank. I leaning Cruiser. Duh!

Newer S Class and a properly done 80 seem the best bet.
But...the cherry has been popped.
Look out.

Heck I may just stand pat.
For now it's nice to look down to the old cabin and NOT have a truck blocking the view
to the front porch. Makes me want to walk down and pull a cork.

I miss Gundy REAL BAD. Short temper . Head aches. It's worse than I thought
and I thought it would be bad.

That truck has seen stuff and blazed paths most could only dream.
Our videos are great stuff. Some jaw dropping stuff. It has never been
a trailer queen. I think 8 or 10 trips to GSMTR and made it there and back.
Never known a cover or garage. In the elements always. It's a Legend.
It's a Cruiser. Dragged the survey team for the Jocassee Gorges thru the
whole Gorge. Crossed beaver ponds where the water bow wakes was over the hood.
Rescued quite a few people too.
Gundy has served well. Always ready. He deserves a rest. He'll still have f/r lockers
and such but I doubt it will ever encounter the abuse I expected of it. It took it and
pressed on.
I let Gundy know how proud I am of his time in my care.
From a drag it to start, blown engine $1500 buy to yesterday has been quite the journey.
We're both better for it. WE are in better condition than when he arrived decades ago.
Ohm...cruiser,cruiser,cruiser...Ohm...cruiser,cruiser,cruiser...Ohm

When the new owner returned to his motorhome he found this on Gundy's hood.
Who? Why? It's Cruiser stuff..that's why. He's still digging stuff out of it.
I had forgot the Bag-o-Money I keep stashed. Nice guy called me.
:grinpimp:
I did a little photoshop.
It is quite the war horse.

WOW!! Capt. Jim told me. Then I see the thread. You have some big balls my friend.

Man on man, can't believe Gundy's gone. That truck is one of the reasons there is an Upstate Cruisers. Still remember meeting all they guys that first time in 04 on the old Horsepasture trails. Tell Lynn hello.

:eek:Oh Man, awesome, sad, but understandable. Take another draw on that bottle while the cork is out. Watch the videos and go on. Never thought this day would come. Can't say I haven't thought the same about the Indian but dang I just can't do it you are the man. Let it go so that it will be better. Whew!!!

next up

I'm selling the 83 FJ60.
Has rust. Also has the smog eliminator, eldenbrock headers, 38DGAS Weber, de-smogged
with new cat-less exhaust. A/C has newer compressor but has a small leak somewhere I haven't had the time to run down. Out of freon for now. New battery. No speedometer. Never worked from day one and I never bother with it.
Tach and all other gauges work. Nice interior w/ sheepskin front seat covers.
First $1500 drives it home. If no club member is interested it goes for a higher $ to the public.

Pics of 60......or link to ad?

I have no pics but I'l take a couple this evening. No ad posted as of now.
Hey, it's a running 83 FJ60 for $1500.....it ain't no show truck.
Doesn't over heat and has great brakes. Heck it's worth that much if it didn't run,
which it does, for parts.
It is what it is. A running rusty Cruiser. Capt'n Jim drove it several weeks this summer
as a loner while his truck was in the shop. Said he got lots of interest in the thing while
driving it.

AS IS...NO WARRANTY.

Test drive it. You will not be disappointed. It has a front bull bar and side nerf sliders
and tail light guards. New power steering pump.
CD player sucks.
Just a serviceable beater. It was when I bought it and it remains just that.
Rusty beater.

This is a club offer. NOT the regular sales price. I'll ask $2500 when I list it.
