I have for sale here In San Francisco California our 1989 FJ62 landcruiser. It has about 220,000 miles on mostly original and stock parts. Asking $5500. Has no rust on frame and a few speckles of surface rust here and there that I've tried to address. I don't really know its history at all. We've owned it for about a year, and purchased it with it running rich and not passing CA smog. Radio not included Email me if you have any question businessw6@yahoo.com.

The previous owners weren't cruiser heads, so they had it for a month and deceided that they didn't want to tackle or spend the money to figure out why it was running rich. We purchased it with the goal to completley go through it and no only have it pass CA smog but to make it a reliable DD.

That goal was completed and our love for cruisers have grown. We've purchased an 80 and find that its a more freindly DD. Living in San Francisco doesn't really allow us to keep both large trucks so we're making the sad decision to let the 62 go.

We've never wheeled it and have only used it to get up to Lake Tahoe in the winter. I would guess 2 owners ago that it was at least used on dirt trails as there is still remnants of dust in the engine bay and dash.

Here is a rough list/notes I've take of what I've done to it over the past year:

Valve Adjustment
Timing
New NGK Spark plugs
New duralast spark plug wires
new cap and rotor.
Chased vacum lines to proper locations
2 new Walker O2 Sensors
New TPS
TPS Adjustment (within spec)
AFM confired working properly
Air Filter
10w-40 oil
coolant temp sensor (new)
Toyota Sepcific (no aftermarket) Water temp sensor for ECU (This was what the truck woudn't pass smog. Truck would stay in cold loop mode always and would run rich because it thought it was still warming up.
FPR, new one went from 7/16/09 15mph 3.26% CO to 7/27/09 1.80%CO
Check and cleaned ground connection at battery.
Rebuilt starter with new contact points.
6 refurbished fuel injectors (bought second set from Ebay, sent in for ultrasonic cleaning, installed those)
CO went up after installing newer injectors.
cleaned throttle body
cleaned intake
new intake gasket
new injector spacers and o-rings
Front disk brake pads replaced with PBR Ultimate ceramics.
Stops a lot better now. 3/12/10
Rear drums replaced with whatever Kragen had in stock.
One drum debonded from its metal carrier and was floating around in drum.
new Denso Fuel Pump
New Toyota fuel pump bracket
New fuel pump bracket to tank seal $
(these items were replaced 6/10/10)
O2 sensor grounding out on exhaust manifold. Was causing EFI fuses to blow because it was shorting it out. Re-wrapped wire and relocated it away from hot exhaust.
Rebuilt front axle, newer front 3rd member.
Had a mishap with mechanic who forgot to refill front diff oil. Short of the long is that it was replaced on his dime and time. All seals replaced along with steering bearings. Second mishap was when gear oil was used in place of grease in knuckles, hence why it seems as if the knuckles are weeping, but it's only residual oil after repacking knuckles with grease.

What I'd do next:
The biggest non-engine related items that are next to look into is the suspension and tires. There are newer shocks mounted but the springs are original and have the typical flat spring pack. Tires are wearing Dunlop Mud terrains with little tread left, does ok in the snow though.
