FOR SALE : 78 Fj40, CT See my avatar
155k, has been sitting in my shop for two years waiting for restoration. That is not gonna happen. I got as far as removing the fenders and dismantiling some minor stuff when other responsibilities got in the way.
The truck ran fine when I parked it.
Stock 40, 2F and 4 speed
Stock interior with jump seats. One small cut in the seat bottom drivers seat, otherwise the interior is excellent. Stock unmolested dash, everything works including the instrument lights.
Heat works fine. I took the heater apart and cleaned and flushed the core.
The truck drove like a dream, engine was smooth and it shifted fine and the T case engages well. Slight clutch chatter when cold.
The PO, my veterinarian's wife gave me receipts for over 6K work done including:
T case rebuild
Clutch cylinder replaced
Poly gas tank and fuel pump. No odors even on hot days. Poly is fine for a tank.
New shocks
New springs
New tires with plenty of rubber left. Has matching spare.
Aqualu tailgate
New soft top with soft doors
Tuffy console
new mirror, visors, seat belts
I have a 78 sistership for parts. I bought a running terminally rusted truck and dismantled it. Pretty much everything was saved except the body.
Running engine
Transmission
Complete intact cowl minus windshield frame
Frame with front differential /axle and steering box. The frame has a title.
Rear differential
Hard doors
Boxes of stuff. I saved everything.
Windshield glass.
Drive shafts
Radiator
Books and manuals.
It's a truck with rust. The tub is typically rusted but perfectly solid and driveable. The fenders need replacement. The frame is sound with surface rust. The exhaust should be replaced. It has headers and a Flowmaster muffler. Side exhaust.
I was going to rebuild it but family issues including a son injured in Afghanistan are getting in the way. The truck and parts are taking up way too much space at this point.
$5000. or reasonable offer.
If the sale is out of state I can consider delivery for my cost. It is a boatload of truck frame, engine, etc.
