All i was saying was use a dual sheild if you can.............. If you look at my post, I did comment on if you go for it with your 110 mig flux core make sure it is clean. It was only a recommendation..... not a demand!
 
Perspective is important. We're talking about welding to something in the 1/8"-3/16" thick range.
Were it 1-1/8" thick I'd think that Dual Shield should be a demand.
 
It's easy to get worried when you consider the penalty for failure if your motor mount separates from the frame rail; I felt that way too. But if it was going to fail it would have done it a long, long time ago. No amount of fully loaded, flying (literally) off the cattle gaurds on the way out of Toroweap, Grand Canyon made any issues come to light.
 
If you have a 180 mig that has a bottle of mixed gas you can dual shield. you can definitely dual shied 1/8" plate too. Most people don't understand dual shield and it worries them. It takes only a little practice to be able to produce great results. And talk about penetration, WOW! That said, I agree that it is out of the range of the average shade-tree mechanic I just wanted to clarify the hijack.
