Don't forget the beer, so you can have the Hurricane Party...

Guns and ammo for looters.

Or . . . pillow cases for looting, depending on your proclivities.

I was more than ready in '04-'05 and still got my arse kicked. Still ready for what ever decides to come my way.

Just got back from Nassau where I delivered a yacht for a client. I am on retainer to evacuate it out of there in the event of threatening weather. This will keep me really busy in the event of a weather threat, taking care of the house and retrieving the boat. It's a 10 hour run in good weather from Nassau back to stateside in good weather, longer if it gets sloppy. Plus I have to get a flight there.

One good thing, I got rid of all of the 55-75' pine trees within striking distance of my structures.

Just Florida and Lowcountry? Last time a Bertha hit the US, it was in NC!

My favorite thread of the year!!!!! Marshall, you need to go ahead and make this a sticky. I created a shortcut to this thread last year!

Hmmmmm, always seem to have enough beer on hand - but while I wasn't thinking about it, I also went a few weeks back and stocked up the liquer cabinet with 1.75 ml of Tanqueray, Sailer Jerry, and Absolute among some other necessities.

Have leftover energy bars from the last surf trip - so food is good.

Two spare window units in the attic - and generator on standby if power goes.

Funny about looters - finally ponied up on a new firearm and scored two 30 and one 40 mag clip for it ;-)

My son and I are surfing Ft. Pierce North Jetty tomorrow hoping to score some decent smallish surf with offshores. Al (Velveeta Wag fame) and other friends have sent pics showing St. Auggie hitting chest to head high, overhead forecast tonight.

Yup - with exception to a blown back (disk) and just having surfed a week in Nicaragua - I'm ready!

Well it looks like Fay is going to bring some rain to the Florida Boys.

Fitting the name of the storm is Fay.

I spent a lot of time with Fay last weekend. She and I got to know each other pretty intimately.

Just pulled the plug this evening to flying out tomorrow morning to Georgetown, Exumas to babysit my latest yacht charge. Faye's more westerly track has put the yacht out of harm's way. The boat is laying in a secure marina and I was kinda lookin' forward to sitting it out aboard her and enjoying the show. :frown:

Oh well, the busy part of the season is still young.....

Storm rained on me all night with some hefty gusts to 45+ mph, but nothing like '04-'05 storms. Fay's center is about 75 miles WSW of me and all we are getting is large bands of gusty rain squalls. Recorded over 7" of rain in the past 24 hours.

Local news is trying hard to scare everyone. They broke into regular programming this morning to show us a horse barn that blew down. Damn thing would have fallen down later this month without this storm.

All is well down here for now, but the busy part of the hurricane season is just starting....

How 'bout now? Everyone OK?

Everything is north of me and has been for the past 24+ hours. Rain is all but gone down here. Still is overcast and breezy.

Some of the North Florida Cruiserheads and FLCA members must be pretty water-logged at this point. Record amounts of rain still falling up their way. Storm has stalled and has moved very little in the past day or two, while still dumping rain on them.

Crazy storm. It's like it's try to hit every part of Florida. Let's hope it doesn't make it back out to the Gulf. It could have easily been a major hurricane had it not taken the path it had. The crazy thing was to see a storm like that intensify over land. Never seen one do that.

The theory on this is the fact that when it is over South Florida, most of the terrain is Everglades, which is water. Not as vast/deep as the ocean but still relatively warm water to fuel it. Wilma in '05 did the same thing, quite rapidly, too.

Fay may ultimately rain on you guys up there if she ever gets it in gear.

Let's hope so, we desperately need it!!

Looks like a tough gig you're pulling these days, Jim. I'd bet you can feel my envy from there.

Glad you're OK. Hope everyone else is too.
