So, I needed to take out the transmission hump today and in doing so I noticed that the floors are rusted at the body mount a lot worse than I thought.

I looked at the floorboard thread, but that doesn't seem to go anywhere.

What have you guys done to improvise floor boards? Just weld in some flat sheet metal? What gage did you use?

I need to remake the body mounts too while I'm there. Any CAD drawings of those?

I just used flat steel. I made mounts too. In a hurry I'll try and get some pics and stuff later.

im in dire need of front floor boards as well, and i am probably going to drive it around in the next couple of weeks getting estimates on getting them cut out and replaced.
Clemson, did you look into getting some of that sheetmetal stamped or rolled to put some grooves in?
i wish i knew how to do metal work

flat steel, new mounts.what ive done cut it out, took the new steel bolted it down, also with the new mounts bolted down.then took the rig doen to my freind to weld them in place saved myself a ton of cash

Getting the metal stamped or rolled wouldnt provide you anything other then aesthetics they serve no actual purpose. I was also in a time crunch at the time so I didnt have time for anything like that anyway. My cruiser is definitely utilitarian in nature though.

Flat stock it is. I'll have to use a MIG to make it look pretty, so I'll just use the buzz box and some 1/16" 6013.

The holes look like they would let in a lot of cold air during the winter, that is really why I am doing something.

What gage metal did you use? 18 to 20 or as thick as 16?

Thanks for the help. I'll have to make a quick write up and post some pics of what I do for others.

Clemsen,

I am going to have to disagree with you on this on. A piece of flat sheetmetal is much weaker then if it is rolled or stamped. Stamped pieces add a lot of strength without adding weight, thats why every truck bed you see has stamped ridges.

Ryan.
