Koffer...

Yes, I tried putting it in all gears at first. It wouldn't go into any gear. I needed to reverse, so I was trying that more than the others. I think it was clutch related because the pumping of the clutch pedal seemed to free it up.

How did the pedal feel? You could also have a blown clutch master cylinder. Chech your driver side floorboard right under the pedal. If it is wet, you're leakin. If so, you probably should replace the slave cylinder at hte same time. Could be just a coincidence it happened when it did. BTW, don't all cruisers act up on Friday the 13?

The pedal feels the same as it always has... I will still check for leaks. Thanks, Yoda.

Jstatts,
Partially engaged clutch makes that exact symptom. Worn out cyclinders need to be pump up like brakes and then they work for a while longer. The leaks can be internal, but don't worry just start it in gear if it won't disengage enough to get it shifted, you just have to shut it off between forward and reverse gears. Gotta love that 2f torque--

howdy,
after this wicked storm.... the water holes are much welll much much deeper. the water hole from above came up past my doors. i have breathers on both axles but not on either t-case and tranny...i just changed the t-case and tranny fuild 1000 miles ago. i hate the smell of gear oil..if i just pulled the drain plug all the water will come out first?? would it be safe just to do that or should i drain and refill?

thanks agian,
-Al

p.s. i know one of them breaths thru the shifter...

Okey Dokey, I *love* gettin' my truck wet, down and dirty too. Lowtideride, be sure you pull the drain plugs from your rockers, front, & rear body cavities to be sure ya' got all the water out.

Cheers,
Cahil

P.S. That salt water is a b*tch if you let it set ...

it was rain water...i steer clear of the salt water.. i HATE rust. dude you still coming friday?

Yup ! PM'ed ya' ...

See ya' soon,
Cahil

damn...will do and run that breather...wish i would have just ran it when I did the axles. But i dint think id be in 4ft of water either. maybe its time to get that snorkle?? i really need to win the lotto this cruiser s*** is addictive.

Ain't that the truth.

I'm not sure a snorkle will do much good though, it might give you an extra 3-5 inches of fording ability.

I guess I need to see how the snorkle attaches to the carb, if it uses it's own air tight air filter element you might be good, but if it connects to the end of the stock air cleaner assembly, then I don't trust mine to be water tight, do you?

Get a visual check on the color of the oil.

Honey brown, light, somewhat transparent, like (ice tea) ... good color, water free.

Dark brown, milky, somewhat opaque, like (chocolate milk) ... bad color, water contaminated.

The above is a good indicator but *not* inclusive of all contaminated conditions.

Cheers,
Cahil

all look like ice tea except the front which looks like choc milk bbuuuuttt I think its because of leaky knuckles...
