Oh hey, I'm here to ask questions again. Always appreciate the input from the community.

I found a 2000 LC with very few service records. Vehicle has 230k miles, CARFAX/Toyota history has T-belt and valve cover gasket done at 177k.

INTERIOR is probably 5/10 but this is just for camping stuff so I don't care too much.
  • Veneer pulling up, oh well
  • CD changer doesnt work, radio does
  • HVAC plenums need a good cleanout (has some crap in there blocking flow on a couple vents)
  • Steering wheel is rough but ok.
  • All power windows/seats/etc work

EXTERIOR is 7/10
  • Couple scuffs/scratches
  • Front fender flares taken off
  • Pretty good otherwise
THE GUTS
  • Engine bay is pretty clean
  • Don't see any visible leaking from block/head/radiator/etc
  • Do see some seeping/bleeding around power steering reservoir
  • There's several pigtails on the harness that are unplugged in the front left corner (maybe for the Lexus variant's AHC?--but this is a Toyota LC). Gotta check the FSM on this one.
THE GAMS
  • Very very minimal rust on all undercarriage components
  • Not much to say here, it all looks pretty good except for...
  • T-case looks to be leaking something from around one of the seals
  • U-joints look dry/clean so thinking they haven't been taken care of

SUMMARY
  • Vehicle accelerated with good power, shifted smoothly, hi/lo engages, diff lock engages
  • Bit of a clunk issue when cruising at highway speed and then hitting the gas (feels like you hit the gas and then about a 1/4 second until you feel the drivetrain pulling)
  • Bit of a clunk going from D to R
  • Coolant was low but didn't see any residue anywhere
  • Brakes well
  • CV joints/boots look really good to my eyes
  • No codes on my OBDII scanner
  • Needs a new windshield

Any idea what it would take to get that T-case fixed up?
Greasing the driveline should fix the clunks right? Don't know if them being dry for unknown time means they need full on replacement or whatnot.

This is a very cheap buy right now, so I'm feeling good in general but would like to know your thoughts, all. What would you pay?

Again, really appreciate this community!

I did the transfercase rear axle oil seal. The thread is here with pictures.
Not a bad job. There are two shims sandwiched between the rear housing from the transfercase.
Reapply toyota silicone (black or red) to the surface and put it back. If you plan to replace the rear housing oil seal and bearing, it is a good time to do it because you have to remove the housing again to replace the oil seal and the bearing. Make sure you replace both (oil seal and bearing) if you plan to do it.

There is already a thread about the drive link clunk in this forum.

How much the seller is asking? if you like to share...

Yep, did some reading about the clunk last night. Seems like different folks got different results but generally saw improvement with proper greasing.

I'll look for your tcase thread, thanks. Just by looking at it I'm pretty certain that's the source of the leak but other folks have better experience with it than I do.

I don't think the ride has been neglected per se, given all that I can see. But maybe was taken care of somewhere besides a dealer so not many records. Hence the overall question to the community about what folks would be willing to pay.

Thanks for your input!
