After many years of resting my elbow on the drivers side armrest, it was worn down and I could feel the plastic bar jabbing into my arm. It was driving me crazy. A new drivers side armrest sells for over $200, which i would never pay for a $20 armrest.

I figured I could unstitch the threading, put some new padding in, then get Kathryn to re-sew it...so I unbolted it, and to my surprise, it's extremely easy to remove the covering!! No work needed. All you have to do is unstick some Velcro, unclip a little plastic clip, and slide it off. I added some padding that I had left over from wrapping my water heater pipes, and it's better than new!! Best 15 minute mod I've ever done.

Both of mine are starting to feel like that... Great job, thanks..

Sent from my SCH-I535

I removed mine because it was giving me rug burn on my elbow. I just use the padded top of the Tuffy box as an arm rest now. That was one of the best free mods I ever did. Nice work on taking the extra steps to get it repaired.

weak sauce - I thought tube doors were the shiz

;p

Mine has this same problem

Hopefully i can take it off and do this

Gonna have to see how i can unbolt it

i was just googling for an armrest for same reason, started looking for one from pull a part... then took a break and pursuing mud for a break and stumbled on this :)
