Currently the entire interior is out of the Cruiser since I'm going over everything and cleaning every single piece.

I have noticed there is a wire within the driver's side rocker harness that seems to have been tinkered with by the previous owner. I don't know why, or how come... but, I need to find out what the factory wire is or does, at least so I can fix it properly.

The wire is a thin factory wire and is yellow with a red stripe on it. This wire comes from under the dash and travels along the driver's side rocker. It then comes out of that main harness and goes into a factory rubber grommet. The grommet is located in the rear floor pan to the left of where the 2nd row rear seat would be located. The yellow/red stripe wire follows the smaller harness within the grommet and disappears under the Cruiser.

Does anyone know what this factory wire is, or what it operates?

The previous owner cut the yellow/red stripe wire at the rear location where it goes into the grommet and also cut it under the dash. He then tapped a gray wire into the yellow/red stripe at both ends - which makes NO sense to me, because the yellow/red stripe is still connected - but he's bypassing the section that remains in the rocker harness...

?????

everything works fine - but I'm trying to figure out WHY he cut the factory wire and used a section of gray "patch" wire in between???

is there something else that yellow/red stripe does or connects to within the main harness that lays in rocker loom?

I'm so happy you have a '92. I am laying here in bed after a kick ass ride, a lot of hot sweaty work around the yard, then an unexpected work issue that had to be resolved on my day off. I reluctantly tossed the sheet off and sat up, then noticed it was a 92. I have a 93 wiring diagram. Phew! I can't help you.

Anyone have a 92 manual??

On the 94 the Y/R wire is for the fuel tank, IIRC
maybe the original wire was chafed or damaged in some way and he made a repair?
If no one else answers up you could varify my statment by looking under the fuel tank access panel located under you second row of seats. There should be two Yellow wires going into the sending unit inside of your gas tank(a y/g and a y/r wire) . One is for level of fuel and one is for the fuel low signal. There should also be a brown ground wire to.
I'll check my notes when I get home but I think thats right.

I found the post I used, these guys helped me out alot!
