I have spent a while trying to determine what the difference is, to no avail, but heres my situation. I have a 91 fj80 that I'm swapping an ls into, the original radiator is somehow still in one piece but just barely. Is there a difference between the 4.0l and the 4.5l rad's? I would think that they would at least have the same core support bracketry. I tried buying an aluminum one from amazon but a month later they tell me they can't source it:bang:. I appreciate any input:beer:

I know the fz radiators have some nipple on the top tank that everyone breaks off.

Yeah, I have one from my '95 FZJ80 sitting on the garage floor in that condition...

You looking for physical exterior differences? I thought the early brass were 3 row vs the latter aluminum being 2 row. As for mounting i cant say.

Lots of folks here have ordered aluminum rads on amazon with no issue. Were you trying for a specific one?

There seem to be more radiators available to the Fzj. I just want to know that the mounting brackets are the same

The lower radiator hose is a different size, but the mounting brackets are the same. Also, later radiators had that upper nipple that the 91-92 don't have.

Hoses different sizes, different tops, different shrouds. Different mounting. Early rads are disco'd. You don't want it anyway.
