Got in a head on collision this morning. We were both ok and walked away. I was driving on my side of the road and he came into my lane so it was his fault. You got to give it up to Toyota for making a stout truck. My wife is so getting a LC next vehicle we get. His truck is totaled and well I drove home. I was not leaking any coolant or any thing of the sorts. The guy got a ticket and I just walked away.

The cop was kinda a jerk to the other guy. He looked at the guy in the truck and said "what is fords motto Built Ford Tough"

So... does any body have some extra front end parts lying around. The frame is not bent or twicked in any way. I just need the cosmetic parts.

Good night, it looks as if someone set off a grenade under the 150's hood.

Glad there are no injuries. Now with the insurance money, order an ARB!

:D

Hmmmm...I don't think you're going to be so glib when you get the estimate on that repair. That looks like a ton of damage to me:
new bonnet
new quarter panels, both sides
new grille
new grille fascia
new lights
new light mounts
new turn signals
new bumper
new radiator mounts
new hood latch
and then some.

Glad you're okay.

Ouch!

Good thing everyone is ok! As for the acronym for FORD, well I guess "Found On Road Dead" is the best way to describe that truck!

As for the front end, I'd have to go with UltraFJ and say, "Order an ARB! Unless you want a Slee ShortBus or TJM!"

WOW!!
I don't wish that on anyone, but glad I drive a Cruiser.

Sorry that happened, glad you are ok. I'd love to know how much of the damage was caused by the damage multiplier. So glad I got an ARB.

Wow man glad you were not injured! I did exactly the same thing to my rig the first week I got it. If I were you, I would tear all the stuff off do some body work yourself and buy and ARB and it will be cheaper than buying all the stock stuff.

I did qp work, hood was tweaked, a new headlight, and a new grille.

Cant believe what you did to that F150!

But most importantly no one was hurt

haha, that damage mulitplier really multiplies damage on the other vehicle.

Looks like if you had an ARB you might just need some black paint. Did the other guy have insurance?

The damage multiplier held up ok. You definitely won.
Glad everyones ok.

WOW!! That is amazing.

Yes, as stated above, you will have to replace a lot of stuff, but still, you drove home. THe ford was dead! that is amazing.

One thing to consider, do you think the ford is like that due to design of crumple zones? Does the fzj80 have that in it's design? Perhaps the ford is crunched like that by design to help absorb some of the impact.

It says something about Ford's safety system when your truck can look like that and you can walk away though. I'd much rather be in the Cruiser though....

I'm glad everyone was OK.

Suggestion... Get your truck on an alignment rack before you declare it unbent and straight. Remember, it just took an X mph hit from a 3800 lb hammer. That can do some damage that won't be visible.

I'm betting his insurance is going to want to total out your 16 year old truck, hand you a check for $2500 and call it a day. Thats going to be the part that sucks.

Your vehicle, while operable, will almost certainly total due to the repair costs. A quick and dirty guess is ~6,500 bucks in damage (if the frame is OK, which I doubt).

Your LC definitely killed that ford. Glad you are okay!

Yes after looking at it and getting the bumper off the very front part of the frame is twisted a little bit. Probably not going to be good. THe guy did have insurance though.

Holy $hit. Glad nobody got hurt.

Total it, then buy it back and build it.

Glad you are ok, man. Those of you with the "you won" mindset based on damage are really thinking with a 1950's mindset. A 50's boat car would probably have held up great, too, but not the passengers in the car. The less deformation the crumple zone takes, the more force is transmitted to the passengers inside the vehicle. In this case, everyone was okay and that's great. However, it is not very accurate to judge vehicle safety by the amount of damage done to the front end in this type of accident.

Maybe I'm a pussy but I'd probably never drive a truck on the road again after frame damage. I'd never even own a car if the unibody was ever damaged.
