Hi all.. trying to finish the 1st phase of my '92 FJ80 deer hit build.. pulled the rad out of my '91 that I rolled.. got it in today & got it filled up only to detect a waterfall at the upper inner seam leak.. ugh.. I need a new rad + shroud + pulley... I don't want to go with plastic rad.. any sources for aluminum?? Also any suggestions for a "package" of rad / shroud / electric fan?? I see them for the FZJ80... will these work in a FJ80??
Cheers & thanks in advance
Btw.. do have access to the wrecked '91 FJ80..

Maybe consider having the existing radiator rebuilt?

It will be about $500, with new core, existing tanks. Assuming it's a metal radiator already there....

A 1FZFE radiator/shroud/fan/fan clutch will not work for the 3FE.
If you search this forum, there are several aftermarket radiators that will work, but some are better than others.
Fans/shrouds have been discontinued by Toyota, but are available from some of the Land Cruiser specialty shops you can find on here.
The OEM Aisin green hub fan clutch can be found on Amazon and several others. Do not use a different manufacturer for the fan clutch. An Aisin FCT-049 is what you want.

Is that a spring on your steering stabilizer? Do you really really hate left hand turns?

Lol

The spring is clamped to the damper, so it "works" in two directions. Supposed to help steering return to centre.
Total gimmick, used as a bandaid for poor caster or steering issues
Called a return to centre damper.

Seriously? Wow. Never stumbled across that before. With all the things I have seen done to Cruisers, I have never encountered that before. I am 100% certain I would remember ripping it off the rig if I had.

Only one I've seen were a ToughDog product. Promoted heavily in the usual shill 4x4 mags for ages.
I had one on my first 80 for a while. Quickly realised, not only does it not do what is supposed to, it loads up the steering components unnecessarily.

They can't work, the spring is at rest where it's supposed to do all its work.

Yep, can see that right away.

I can't think of anything specific right this second, but I am sure that I must have bought into stuff like that too, here and there through the years

If people will buy something, people will sell it... if people will sell something, people will buy it. ;)

Ouch.. guilty as charged.. btw.. just replaced the VAF with a camry v6 model.. plug & play... 1/2 the price as 3FE model.. throttle response is amazing (at least at Great Falls Mt. 3330ft altitude) .. thanks to IH8MUD..
As always - thanks for your valued input..

I can come across as seeming pretty critcal/harsh... but as I mentioned..."I can't think of anything specific right this second, but I am sure that I must have bought into stuff like that too, here and there through the years" 😉
