My wife says it is time for a third seat in the car.https://forum.ih8mud.com/images/smilies/wink.gif I need room for 5 + a car seat by march and everything I've got now seats 5. I need a third seat, but am hoping for better than 10mpg. Some guys I've talked to say they get 18 (stock) with a early 90's others say 10-12 mpg (33's). My question is what year and suspension configuration gets the best milage and still lokks good for the wife to drive? Thanks in advance. Bryce

My 92 is well tuned and averages 12.5-13 mpg. I can squeeze 15.5 to 16.5 on long hwy trips. I have 31" tires. Only mods are dual exhaust & K&N filter.

what year? the newer the better.
what suspension? the more you lift, the worse the fuel economy, IMO.
tires? for fuel economy, smaller tires = better mileage (stick with stock size if you want the best mileage)

as for how many MPG you'll get...check out MoGas's link or search...

Oouch!!!
I thought about an astro AWD, But that doesn't fit me or her. She's driving an Audi quattro now And a 95 impala SS in the summer so milage isn't a great concern, but still something to think about. I would like 4WD. We get alot of bad roads here. If poor roads wern't an issue I would think about a roadmaster wagon.
Besides she wants an 80. What more could I ask for, A wife who not only doesn't mind the three I've already got (or the time they take) plus wants one of her own.

Traded a 2000 Chevy Venture w/ 92K for my 95 FZJ w/ 154K. Lost 10 mpg highway (25 to 15) 5 mpg (18 to 13) around town and insurance went up about 15%. Really glad I had the van for little kids; more space, easier to get in and out. Had a 92 Previa AllTrac before the Venture and should have never gotten rid of it. The Chevy was a POS. Forget the style BS. If you have a young family. a minivan WAY outdoes any SUV for utility especially a Toyota minivan. They are the best built in that class too.

Expect large cash layouts at the pump. My Tundra V-8 gets 16 around town and 18 highway. The engine kicks ass. However it is not a landcruiser....and to properly cruise the land, you must consume copius amounts of fossil fuel. It's best not to talk about it.
