I saw some old great custom designed systems https://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/new-exhaust-options-for-emspowered.475569/ but, not seeing any items like this currently. Would love some updated feedback to options to replace the exhaust system from the Y-Pipe back. Looking for better option than the OEM parts. Have seen some things on Magnaflow/Bosal/Etc., but would love to know update/complete options, or full list of recommended items.

I am also looking to replace my exhaust system. Read some bad reviews regarding EMS. Would like to see what other options for a quality exhaust system.

EMSPowered isn't even an option anymore(thank goodness). It was also a bunch of garbage.
Maybe Underdawg can come back and start welding up exhausts for us.

From all my reading on the topic, it seems if you can't weld one yourself, your best best is to find a decent local shop to do it. There isn't enough profit margin for anyone to make these it seems.
I'd like to see one using new-style hangers instead of the old ones which were stock for our rigs.

Don't go Aluminized steel unless you want to do it again in 4 yrs or less. Most shops use Aluminized as they like repeat business, and it's cheap.

The Toyota OEM system is 409 Stainless (low grade, 1/2 amount of nickle and chromium of 304, magnet will stick) which lasts about 20 yrs as most systems are rotting out about now.

If you go high end (Borla or Similar) it will be 304 Stainless which should outlive you and you will prolly need a home equity loan.

Mounting is important.
System can not be full rigid or it will crack due to movement from motor and vibration.
If it moves too much it will bump things and/or leak.

A Great Start is the Magnaflow Y-Pipe and Muffler.

The system I ordered a few months back was originally going to be Maganflow Y pipe, second catalytic converter, followed by the Borla cat back. Got hose on that deal on Amazon and instead just replaced from the cat back with the Bosal kit from rockauto. The fit is actually spot on, the gaskets worked, everything lined up perfect. No, its not a performance exhaust, and its not stainless. I did treat it with rustoleum hi temp clear coat to hopefully make it last longer. For $200 it was very worth it to me. I would have been sad if I bought that Borla as I've already crushed the tailpipe down on this one.

I did the magnaflow downpipe, cats, stainless muffler and all new 2.5" pipe, and my only gripe is that the piping on the downpipe has a bit of a noise to it I notice. Similar to a performance stainless type noise where its noticeable when the passenger window (1996) is down and the truck hasn't warmed up all the way yet. I think I might add header wrap to that section to bury that problem, as well as lower the firewall temp a bit. As for performance, it's a little better. We drive underpowered, overweighed slugs, so there isn't a huge difference in power, but it's definitely noticeable. The sound is great imo, not too obnoxious in the passenger compartment. Fwiw, I'm also running the Slee rock sliders and they do clear the first cat without a problem. The second cat welds to the first, and any competent muffler shop or welder can see to it that it clears as well. I'm happy with the route I took.

^^^ Someone stated that they wrapped the cast iron headers and it rotted away in a short time.
I would check it often if you go that route.
Wrap is cheap on Ebay.

Do you have pics you could post of your new exhaust? I have a 94 and the exhaust is on it's last leg.

Thanks.

I love my Magnaflow y pipe and cats, borla cat back. I took the extra time to hit them with some VHT ceramic exhaust paint in black. So far no issues. Replaced the O2 sensors also.

Hey guys just welded a used Flowmaster and deleted cats on the stock 3FE pipes. Sounds pretty quiet. Stock muffler blew out.
