Hi all,

Looking to purchase an FJ73. The car appears to be great for the age and reasonably rust free.
I have a fibreglass windscreen replacement panel ready to go in however underneath seems to be a bit questionable..

Please share your thoughts/ repair cost estimates / Ideas to get around it. Has anyone else had a similar issue?

In addition, has anyone had any experience with replacement flares? There are 'Kutsnake' and FRP ones here in Australia but theyre few hundred difference in price.

Many thanks,
Rook

Idea - would chopping that seal etc out of a wrecking 75 series and welding it in the 73 be an option?

That's probably your best bet. However, I'd also look at your lower pillars and firewall body mounts. Moisture probably ran down and created corrosion there as well. The good thing, you're in 'straya, plenty of donor 70s to steal parts from.

You will have to pull the old windscreen frame out to see how bad it is underneath. If it makes you feel better, my frame was as bad as yours but it was fairly rust free everywhere else.

Any update on this? What was the end result? Any pictures?

Pulled my windscreen off a few months ago and it was not a good scene. The Chinese alibaba factories will have the full fj73 body in production next year which I’m leaning towards as it will come fully painted.

Other option is to buy a Ute tub shell and replace entire fire wall.
