Looks okay to me. The plastic pads between the leaves may be worn out or missing, but it's nothing to really worry about.

The perspective of your photos makes it like the leaves are out of alignment, but that's probably not really the case.

Thanks for your advise, actually it was on a jack in car wash! that’s why I believe you see it misaligned ..

Thanks again, ..

Front Leaf Spring, broken part with the shackle kit

hi again,

i have another question, I have noticed a broket metal peice that is connected to the shakle kit in my front-left leaf spring (FJ73 1991), picture attached. I have only one peice and it is broken! I dont have the same in the other front-right leaf spring.

please advise, shall i replace the broken one? this is for what? it seems this peice blocks the springs from moving forward ..

thanks
Hamany

Hi All:

Hamany, that piece of metal above the shackle hanger does look strange, can you post some more photos of it, from different angles?

Regards,

Alan

Looks almost as though it's some kind of over-travel guard. It does not appear to be structural to me . . .

Hi All:

Yep, looks to be an "anti-inversion" device to me.

Regards,

Alan

Its on the wrong side to be an anti inversion device.

I'm guessing its the remains of the lower mount of some kind of brush guard/bar. I can't find it in the EPC.

Factory tow hook that's been cut off.
