All,

I have a transmission question. My fj62 shifts from 1st to 2nd really quick. All other gears seem to shift correctly. I have adjusted the kickdown cable per others suggestions but to no avail. Is there a vacuum that controls the shifting? Could it be a shift solenoid?

Any suggestions would be great.

Thanks

anybody?? Can someone let me know if the shifting is done by vacuum and if so is there a different vacuum solenoid for each pair of gears?

Thanks

Ok, I have been busy today. I dropped the tranny pan because I was preparing for a rodney flush per this forum. The pas was clean and looked ok. Put new gasket and put back on. Did the rodney flush per the sticky, made sure trans oil was filled to norm. Installed a trans cooler and buttoned everything up. Still have the same issue with the shift from 1st to second. No matter what 1st shifts at 2000 RPM no matter how much foot I put into it. The other gears shift like I would expect ( harder the peddle push the higher the rpm between shifts). No slipping.
Any suggestions would be great.

Thank you all

Brian

Adjust the transmission throttle valve cable a little tighter.

there are no vacumn or electric selenoids on the 62 transmission.

Aaahhhhh That is the final answer. Thank you!! This is great news because now I can focus on other areas.

Thanks a million :)
