Is there any reason why I could not weld up the rear end on my cruiser I have read something about some C clips ? not to familiar with that????

If you weld it correctly the c-clips will function normally.

any pictures or tips on what correctly is?????

Something like this I think. At least this is how the ones I've come across seem to have been done.

Reasons why you could not are pretty simple; don't have a welder, can't get the cover off, etc.

Reasons why you should not are that it's gonna be a lot less friendly on the street and it's gonna eat tires (at best.) It will also fail and wipe out the rest of the diff if not done properly. It's easy to get weld/splatter where you don't want it, it's not practical to get proper heat on the parts before and after welding if not removing them from the housing, etc.

Just weld up solid 3 teeth each on opposite sides of each side gear. That way you can just replace them when you find out you don't like it. No worries about the C clips either. You can't weld them because you need to be able to remove the axles.

Not my photo - but this is what pinhead is talking about. The side gears are still in place and free from the carrier but they just can't rotate. Best to clean them off, throughly degrease them, cook them to 250 deg. +/- in a oven, put anti splatter over where you don't want weld, weld them up, and wrap them up in an old oven mit and tin foil (or better yet a thermal blanket made for such things) for a few hours to let them cool off.

If you do like this, it is easily reversible as mentioned - but I've seen lots of pretty awful hillbilly jobs (not on Toyotas..) where someone just opened the cover and went to town. That video is only funny because it's true - I've seen the aftermath.

any recommendations for a locker that will allow me to remove and install the c clips

All of the ones that are listed as working with your 62 will work with C flips. All of the major manufacturers have something that will work.

ended up goin with 5.29 gears and spartan lockers front and rear
