I'm trying to find a replacement for the knee high molding. It looks like this is a common aftermarket piece that was put on at the dealership. It is riveted in. My paint is in good shape so I don't want to remove it and paint it. Is there something out there that I could place over it? Any ideas?

Thanks,
Lance

You can remove it but sometimes the plastic clips break so if you do remove the trim treat it gingerly. Not sure what your end game is here but I have never seen any kind of cover. That doesn’t mean there isn’t something out there though.

Your choices are to leave it, remove it and plug the holes with stainless screws (or JB Weld and touch them up with white paint), or wait until you repaint the truck completely and fix it at that time. I think covering it will make it worse or more prone to rusting.

It's a 'period piece' that should likely just stay as it is, until you rehab the whole truck and weld over the holes and repaint.

Thanks for all of the replies. I actually ended up finding a molding that is almost exactly the same. I was thinking I might end up popping it out and replacing it. I think I will only do it if I can get the rivets to line up. I am not sure if the holes are pre-made or if I can place them wherever.
