I drained my tank yesterday and no rust came out with the fuel...when I looked inside the tank after pulling my fuel pump out it looked rusty inside. I've been dealing with a random hesitation and sputtering issue for a while now. So far i've put in a new fuel pressure regulator, fuel filter, and fuel pump and screen. Plugs are good. Seems like the pump made a big difference but it still bogs down every now and then...any ideas would be greatly appreciated. All problems are on acceleration. Most times it hesitates upon accelerating for first five min and then runs fine for an hour. Before new fuel pump the truck would stall every .1 of a mile. Now runs fine except for the hesitation and sputtering for first few minutes of driving when accelerating.

Wouldn't hurt to clean the throttle plate housing, mine gets sticky with residue now and then.
How is the charcoal canister? You will probably find this thing doesn't work anymore but it can cause problems. It's part of the emissions and is supposed to absorb fuel vapors from the tank system, it can cause some pressure problems as the tank vents through it.
How old are the rotor and cap on the distributor? Last time you checked the timing?

Its that can on the frame next to the distributor below the fuel filter. Factory service manual has a test to see if its clogged. Or someone may have posted it here on mud

As I understand it, the charcoal canister only does anything after the engine is just shut off.
Have you checked the TPS? Might be out of adjustment.

Check the intake piping for cracks. Check for a vacuum leak.

The chacoal cannister is the end of the line for vapor out of the tank vent system. The vacuum lines on the cannister will actually pull vapor out and this can only happen while the rig is running. At least that is my backyard understanding of how it works

so I ran the codes and Tps fail came up, so I replaced the tps and the truck ran great for a day. Now the hesitation and stumbling is back. If I give it very little gas it isn't so bad but as soon as I try to accelerate it hesitates. I'm really stumped with this one. Could there be junk in the fuel lines? Please help.

KLF's suggestions above... go through that list, starting with the easiest first... check your large in-take hoses (#1 and #2). My 62 was acting up, just as the op described. There was a crack about 3" long on the underside of the intake hose that mounts to the throttle body (on the underside where I couldn't see if). Bought both hoses from City Racer - installed them - and the hesitation was gone. Check those hoses to start.
