Hi all,

So I have a 1985 fj62 with a 3f engine, it is in stock condition. What I would like to do is restore it, but with some twists. What I want in the end is a stock looking fj62, but on a 80 series chassis to get the coils and other various advantages, and Put in a duramax 6600 diesel.

I have the 80 series doner vehicle already, it has been rolled.

My questions to the forum are...

Is there anybody who has done this before? If so could you link it

How should I go about doing the conversion?

And what parts should I keep from each vehicle to make the best/most capable/ and reliable land cruiser I can?

I hope this is in the right place, not really sure if it is a 60 or an 80 series. I would say 80.

Thanks

or project x2 or lowtide ride... theres is good info to be had if you take a look.

the twist is the duramax. That may be new territory for you to explore. There is one guy in AUS but his project has stalled out for now.

you may consider leaving the 1fz if you want reliability. Systems designed to work together have less head scratching moments on the side of the road. But the duramax would be sweet. Then you say capable. I really dig the AWD trans in the 80 but im not sure you could bolt them up..... or how well it would hold up to the diesel.

I suggest making a budget..... triple it..... and proceed with wallet wide open :D

Totally doable

I don't know what the forum consideration of these guys is, but TLC out of CA has done the 80 frame swap, and they've done the diesel swap before as well.

Google ICON FJ62 and watch the video. Very cool ride. It is one of their custom vehicles, I couldn't find anything about it on their website.
