Good morning cruiserland. I have a huge dilemma. There comes a time when a man has (not by choice) to chose between selling his fj60 or fj40. Fist the 60. It is a 1985 60 with 123K on original engine and it is in awesome condition no rust at all and no modifications. I have driven it from Colorado to New Mexico in the summer with AC on and it was an awesome experience. I am actually attached to it, if you can't tell already.
Now the 40. I just bought the 40 about three month ago. I have looked for one for a long time and I found one with very little rust. It is a 1969 1F, with miles unknown. Compression is great on all six cylinders, it has front and rear lockers, it has about a three inch lift. I have wheeled it around my yard just climbing on a huge rock and it was awesome. I am looking forward to the summer where I can take the top off and explore Colorado.
Given the above circumstances, can you help me?
Thanks for all inputs.

PS. Neither are my DD

I would look at your long term plans.

If you enjoy the 60, keep it. It will most likely serve you better in the long run. I have a 40, but often times wish I had a 60 or 80 so I could take the whole family and the dogs up with me.....

Look at it this way...how many rust free all original 60's do you see on the road or in the marketplace and how many 40's do you see in that kinda of condition on the road or in the marketplace.

Also, in a way you already answered your own question..."I am actually attached to it".

Good luck with the decision but if it was me....keep the 60.

Generally speaking, 60s are more common and cheaper to buy than 40s in equivalent condition. If the 40 was a later model, I'd say keep the 40. In this instance, I'd keep the 60.

There is certainly more of a market for FJ40's. Pretty easy to find a nice FJ60 cheap but a solid 40 is another story. The 60 is definately the better all-around vehicle. If you have to sell one or the other, the 40 will probably bring you more $ and you'll still have a great 60 to drive and wheel. Not many places your 40 can go that your 60 couldn't with a little suspension work and some lockers to match what your 40 has.

By the way, I'm looking for an FJ40 in CO. If you'd like to see your 40 go to another cruiserhead, let's talk. ;)

If you want a wheeling rig, keep the 60 and toss the lockers in it. You can still use it for other things and will still have a capable rig. If you want a street/DD rig, keep the 60. Keep the 60.

Sorry to hear about your dilemma, Ted. Sell the 40.:crybaby:
I hope that's a decission I'll never have to make.

How about this, get a part time job somewhere to help you out with whatever your situation is and keep both of them. I picked up a second job

Depends on what your use will be. If you are doing day trips and wheeling, the 40 is the ticket for two people.

If you are going to do overnighters with camping, or haul more than two people - definitely keep the 60. And it will go almost anywhere the 40 will go - especially if you can recycle the lockers from the 40.

sell anything else of value. find a woman with a job, or roomate. do like fowldarr suggests. get another job. SELL NOT THE THINGS THAT KEEP US MEN!

Thanks for all your inputs. I did post the same question in the 40 section and the answers mostly were to keep the 40. This section almost all the answers were keep the 60. I appreciate the second job option and more than that the saving the lockers idea. I keep swaping my mind every 10 minutes and I think I am going to do one of the following.
1. Keep the 60 and swap the lockers'
2. Sell the 60 because it is worth more money.

Thanks again for all you input, I will post my decision.

Looks like your changin your mind quicker than every 10 minutes.

Or you type very slow.

Or you started typing that at about 9:15 into a flip flop cycle.

I hear your dillema. Let me share with you. I reciently had to get rid of my classic Bronco and get something a bit more family orientated. I chose to get a 60. I think I made the right choice. Its a rig that is still wheelable and I can ride the entire family. Its a good thing to do. you can use the cash from the 40 to build up your 60.

Tough place to be dude.

My 60 is my DD, my 40 is the play truck. Beauty of having the 40 is not caring if I crunch a fender or tweak a rocker.

I love both of my trucks (and the wife's 4Runner), but if I had to choose, Id keep the 40. Good 40s are hard to find here in the rust-belt.

Hopefully, I'll never have to be in that position.
