Well the deal on the fj60 fell thru. He didn't like my price and I am not willing to pay his price. Its a little high for me. If any one might be interested let me know and I can send pics and owners info. Also,if any one has a 60 for 1000 or less that would make a good project for a rock Crawler or a good back woods ride, please let me know.

Seriously I know you have probably more wrenching experience than me but one thing I can tell you is even a totally rusted out running 60 will bring twice your budget. These trucks are built tough as hell and just the axles, running gear etc is worth a grand. For your sake I hope you do find one cheap just telling you what you are up against

Rances dad had one for sale a while back.

Still got it!! He's coming Sunday to look at it. Thanks for the shout out Matt .

Well I am the owner of a farm fresh 1984 FJ60, thanks to my good friend Rance Sharp (RSharpfzj80). She is sitting in the driveway and gave her a bath. Next step is to get her on the lift and get the motor running or maybe a 4bt swap. They are expensive from what I have seen. Anybody know where to find one in Knoxville? May look into starting a build thread on here. I am soooooo excited.

Congrats on your new purchase. It wont be the last. If your looking for a 4bt, look for old bread trucks or delivery trucks. sometimes those are easier to find than just the motor.

Its kind crazy to see my first cruiser finally leaving the family! She has been around for over 13 years :( but i know Ryan will give her the attention she needs. Good luck bud and yell if you need some help. Here are some pics of the ole girl..

Congrats man! Post up some pics. My bro-n-law got his 4bt from an old bread truck for sale. There is one down the street 4 sale just not sure what engine.
He was not too pleased with that swap though was he?

I think the biggest problem was using an old engine without rebuilding it b4 swap. He took a chance & got bit. Rebuild kits are about a grand for parts alone. Add man hours from local shop, trans plate, spring over, tires, longer shocks, exhaust, fuel stuff and you now have $5 grand in an old truck! That's enough to buy a nice old BJ60.

So sounds like a 4bt is a pretty expensive route. What about the bj60 diesel motor? Are they hard to find, anygood? May just get the IL6 running and just go with it for awhile. Just kicking around some ideas.

Roger made a comment about often seeing those non-Toyota diesel swaps often up for sale after completion. I would stay Toyota. Although I have wondered about mounting a 40 or 60 on a CUCV Chassis. :hhmm:

Sent from my thing with Woody's junk.

Thanks guys for all of the input. Gonna try and get the old motor running and see what it will cost to do so. May have a surprise if I can't bring it back to life. Hope to be wheeling it soon. :D

That 2F will get going no problem. Fresh water, fresh oil and fresh gas in the carb!:steer:
