Trying to remove the sterring pump on 84 fj60. Back pump to bracket bolt bumps the exhaust manifold before it comes out. Do I have to loosen the 3 bracktet to block bolts in order to tilt the bracket out to get that bolt out?
Help!

Bracket must be removed from engine in order to get that bolt out and in, unless you remove the intake and manifold assembly.

Hola,
Here is my write up.

https://forum.ih8mud.com/60-series-wa...p-removal.html

The way I did it I took the pump out and then took the bracket out.
THere are pics showing most of the process.
After the bracket is out you can cut the bolt by about a third so the next time, if ever, you will be able to take the pump out without moving the bracket.

If you have any questions let me know
Good luck,
Patrick

Thats what it looks like... I am thinking about putting it back with either a shorter bolt or a longer bolt from the front side with a lock washer and nut on the back side. Wouldn't one of those work?

Best solution seems to be "modifying" the original bolt by rounding off the head a bit AND cutting off just enough threads to allow pump removal without loosening the bracket.
Thanks to all. I am still laughing about "SAWSALL" Mrlocksmith!!! I feel your pain.

I feel your pain, if it were not for that one bolt the job would be ok

I put a shorter one back in when i did my pump a few years ago
