Anyone know if there are any options that work on a 60 for getting more air into the engine. Have the Safari Snorkel right now, but after an LS engine rebuild, my mechanic is suggesting that the snorkel may not be let enough air in. Maybe a snorkel with a larger air tube? Anybody come across this? Thanks!

I would think you would have at least close to enough air with the safari, but it is a but puny on the 60 version. If you are talking ls3 maybe not. 5.3, I suspect you are good. That said, there is another Australian snorkle manufacturer, I will see if I can find it. I am sure I saw an HJ-61 with one on it. With a G-turbo on the 12-ht, it moves a ton of air too

My 2005 5.3 with headers gets choked out by the Safari snorkel. I just don't have it plumbed as a result. You probably won't get enough airflow.
Good to know. My mechanic recommended to start with it not plumbed. So that’s how it will be when I get it back, but just interested to try and keep it somehow functional since I already have a hole in my fender.. :(

Thats exactly why I flippin hate snorkels. I cant pull mine because of the hole.

Got any pics curious to see how its plumbed to the engine. Using a stock 62 box will actually choke it down i have modified the 62 box for a bigger air intake into the box and run 4 inch all the way to the engine.

I inherited the hole as well.

It has saved my 80 in deep water though. Hauling arse down a dirt 2 track (MI has 100's of miles of these) does make an excuse for a snorkle by keeping the intake higher.

Thanks! I have a 6.0 with with a some porting on the heads.
Yeah man. You will need a bigger snorkle!

Your truck will be seriously fun

That's as big an issue as anything really. The 62 airbox is big, the filter is big, but it sure looks like the in and out tubes are way too small

I definitely tried searching but didn’t find exactly what I was looking for. Mostly related to 2F’s.
Only a Mosley Motors @FJ60Cam 2f has any chance of collapsing a snorkle! :p

I don’t. Should be getting my truck back next week. I’ll snap a photo of what’s going on when I get it back.

80 lid has a larger diameter tube.

Georg set up a airbox with a HAI valve which could be set-up to be engaged under spirited driving conditions. I don’t know if he posted photos about that. But it was set-up between the snorkel and the air box.

The 80 tube does look bigger. It doesn’t fit on a 60 will it?

@sixtyseries this is how I did this on a lq9 385hp its a 62 box can see how small the inlet into the box is can see the piece i cut off in the background in one of the pics. Can do all this but if the snorkel is small not sure how much you would gain.
