Stuck in limbo. Verified with local Birmingham dealer that my ‘83 60 was in need of the tank and belts. They got the tank, but I had to get the lines (thanks @crusiermatt). Told me it would take 1-2 days. When I called after a week they told me they had completed the job but they were keeping the car and emailing Toyota and someone else about getting the recall paid for. Won’t let it leave until it’s confirmed to be paid for.

Anyone got advice on how to proceed? My car is being held hostage. What’s this letter y’all were talking about? There is no google drive link anymore.

I posted my invoice on here when I got mine done down here in Houston...they have to pay for it, no choice.

The Toyota link/database only applies to recalls after 1999. I contacted Toyota directly through their "Brand Engagement Center". They got back to me the next day with the info that my FJ62 had the tank replaced 05/22/1995 at Magnussen's Toyota/Palo Alto.
