I've discovered I need to replace almost all of the braking system under my FJ60. I've looked up rotars, calipers, hoses, drums, pads, etc on SOR - is this the best place to purchase these items?

Thank You!

$OR is fine, but expensive. Customer service is great. I live near them and go there all the time because they let me tip toe through their used parts to find the best ones... Again, good but generally more money for the parts. But if you need tech assistance or a patient sales person, the call SOR

However, if you're going to buy online, there are many many places, just look in the vendor section of this forum.

You can't go wrong with OEM, drums and rotors will be expensive, but they will last, if you need them to. Dan at American Toyota gives a discount.

Search for posts by D'animal to get the phone number or American Toyota (in New Mexico) is in the vendor section.

Good luck and welcome.

I recently went through my brakes (1987 FJ60) and bought everything I needed from the local Advance Auto Parts store. New rotors, brake shoes and pads, rear wheel cylinders, brake hardware and springs, and remanufactured calipers. Prices were very reasonable. Everything fit and so far is working fine. Probably all made in China, but heck, the OEM stuff is probably made in China now too.

Customer service is great.

The two times I have had to contact CS at SOR so far have been far from great. As a result I go out of my way to avoid giving them my money.

Conversely, the one time I had to contact C Dan he was a great help (and it was totally my own dumb mistake anyway).

So if your going to be getting OEM stuff I say give your money to C Dan.

I agree. C Dan was very helpful when I ordered from him too. Just saying I have not had any negative issues with $OR, except prices. I even had Marv Specter walk me around the whole damn bone yard of used parts looking for three damn screws for the timing cover plate 'cuz they were out of new ones.

Now MAF, I've had issues with, both good and bad. But they do have quality parts too and I still buy from them.

Everybody's got their own level of tolerance for counter jerks. Mine tends to be pretty low, so what can I say. :D:D

Just buy quality parts and you'll be happy, no matter where you get 'em from.

X2 on cruiserdan (his MUD name), he knows his stuff and you get a MUD discount.

And I will also second the opinion that every supply place has good and bad moments, and all deserve more than one chance when it comes to customer service. Quality and cost are a different story.

Steve at MAF has always been very helpful, and I try to get him when I call there.

A product is made in China does not mean it is inferior. It depends on the quality control requirements of those who place the order. So look at the brand of the product.
