Yep. The key slips into the gasket to lock it and the glass in place.
SOR actually has 45LV windshield gaskets. Call Marv, Im sure he can confirm about cutting them down for the other windows.
Chef, I pm'd you before I saw this thread, but I'll repeat some info here for the others. Yes the SOR early FJ40 windshield gasket with the key works for all 3 pieces of cargo glass, as well as the windshield. However, The glass size will have to change with this gasket. With the original gasket, the glass sat in front of the metal flange of the window openning and hung passed it. With the new gasket, the glass sits directly in line with the flange and thus, has to be smaller in size. To get a pattern for the new glass size, trace the window openning at the flange onto a piece of paper and move that line towards the center of the window 1/4" all the way around. Cut the gasket down to size by first making a cut all the way through, then wrap it around the glass and make it about 3/4" longer. This will help in not having a gap at the new seam. Always put the seam at the top and fill with a black caulking. Only other thing I would suggest is put the key on the inside. This will give the outside a more "original" look and is better for security.
Allan, I'll let you know for sure hopefully in a few days. I just got 4 windshield gaskets and keys today from SOR . Hoping to get installed in the next couple days. Ordered them specificly because of Junky's post.
Yeah, water actually collects between the glass and the rubber at the bottom and if the seam is not seal, will just pour down the dash. The same thing will happen at the top if the seam isn't sealed, it's just a much smaller flow.
Is this part from SOR the aftermarket part or the OEM part? Which windshield rubber are we talking about? Does anyone know if the OEM rubber still requires cutting the glass down by 1/4".
The SOR part # is 120-03B/A-A/108. I can't remember if this part is aftermarket or OEM, but looking at it I'd say OEM. It's great quality stuff. And yes the glass size is going to be smaller because the FJ40 rubber is nothing like the shape of original LV rubber. I don't have the part # for the key right now, 'cause I can't find the two that are in my garage. Just tell them you need the key that goes with this rubber.
