So just thought i would ask. Does Anyone have a passenger seat they would be willing to part with. Condition really not an issue.
I have tried to get an FJ40 pass bench to fit but becoming frustrated after i realized I failed to account for the roof latches. Removable top Fj45 passenger bench wanted please!..
If not I'll go "borrow" one from a buddy and do my best to copy the height and distance from the back of the cab.

I don’t know if this will help you out but I have the upper frame section from a RHD 78’. I believe you could use LHD 40 series hinges to make it work in your truck.

appreciate it. i have a 40 Upper half that would work on a 45 lower section. Pretty much really need a complete pass side bench .If one does not present itself i will possibly just install suspension seats.

Could you build one out of a regular seat? Seems extreme but maybe not so much. I had no idea they were different so I went and looked at mine. The upper is just narrower to clear the latch, and the filler neck it looks like.

I have a 40 seat, while close that will be the end game should one not present itself. I have one I can borrow 2 hours away. The height and distance from the back is significantly different.

The front legs go straight down off the frame. 40 series have rounded legs that go out over the fuel tank. On the 45 the fuel tank does not extent pass the front of the seat. Rear legs on the 45 seat have a longer horizontal run before going back before bending down to the raised section of the floor. Few years back I compared my 68 FJ40 to my 65 FJ45. Was surprised how much different the passenger's seats are.

This is the passenger side seat base from my 78’ before I modified it to mount the 79’ newer seat on too it.

That actually helps. Explains how far I need to move forward.

Would be interested to see how you modified the seat for the 79+ as well as what you did for the driver's side. Probably wouldn't use my 65 FJ45LP-B passenger frame but modify a FJ40 seat frame. The early FJ45 passenger seat is wider at the front then later seats.

Here are the pictures I have left on my phone. All of them are in my build thread. You should understand that I swapped the seats to LHD before the rest of the truck was changed.

@76 FJ40 I was going back thru your thread today. Made it to page 10.
@nuk612s PM sent.

Other than having the wider base that the original bench had, I think you'd be better off with modding a 40 frame. why? Because the outboard leg of the seat is the Achilles heel of the 45 interior. Almost every frame I have come across has had the tube BUCKLE where the seat back rests because the span is SO MUCH farther from front to back. Some of them crack. A lot of them end up resting directly on the fuel tank.

Toyota should have used heavier-wall tubing, or designed a brace near that junction, both of which would be easy for you to do if you were modding a 40 frame. Just my .02

We shall give it a try this weekend. Picked up dom tubing to sleeve the 40 seat posts.

Dang, I already have a day fitting the 40 bench. I'm going to stick with what i have until i determine a bench is annoying. that is about as close as i have seen to a factory seat thus far for sale. Thanks for thinking of me Whitey.
