I should have replied directly with all interested parties. If you need to reach me or if I missed anyone, I will respond quickly to pm and email.

Kurt, I would save yourself some time, this gent has not responded to one of the most basic questions on a product and that was the price. As you are a business man and I law enforcement I think we both know something is not right here.
I suggest stay clear until this person shows some proof of product.

About $5,000 is what he told me in a PM so there we have it.

Last I looked $3800 all in. And we're made exact not like these

Spoke to Kevin before I bought a tailgate and a headache rack from him. Was he able to get the height/width/number/etc. of the ribs spot on?

Totally not trying to start an argument here but how do you know these aren't "exact"?

Absolutely the only reason I'm asking is cause I would like a replacement bed and I am looking at ALL options including trying to find a fabricator locally.

If it's spot on I'd come close to paying 5K but would probably want to see a price point around $4500.

My 2cents.

Hey, just found this thread now while looking for one of my old ones. A couple things jump to mind.

Firstly, price is impossible to nail down exactly until the build quantity is established. There is a overhead cost of design as well as manufacturing that either must be paid by one bed or by ten. If ten are made each bed pays 1/10th but if one is made it must foot the bill by itself. One bed might cost $10,000.00 but 10 beds might be $50,000.00 or $5000 each (just numbers easy to divide, not a price point). Having said that, a price range or target could be posted.

Secondly, Yay!! Somebody wants to make beds!!

Thirdly, the pics posted by the OP may be just representations and not actual product (I believe this is the case). But they do look pretty good at a glance. I notice the bed to frame mounts are different than mine but I used my original 1978 bed to copy so maybe those mounts are what the earlier bed had? I dunno.

Fourthly, I made mine as exact as I could. Rib number, height, width etc all as close as I could measure my original bed at.

Finally, If I was making more beds they would be in the close to $5k range if there were like 10 of them. I made mine for too little and that may be why I don't make them any more given the labor I put in vs the reward in the end. I'm not bitter, it was fun but a lot of work.

Just some thoughts.

Ok so it sounds like if we get 10 folks together that need beds Kevin is going to start making them for 5K.

I bet putting 10 of these together would pay for a lot of the Mrs's furniture!! Let us know what you think Kevin.

Wait! What? No, no, no. I never said that. I am glad someone in Dallas might be working on it and I was putting up a post with a view from the other side. That's all.

HA!!

My smiley face didn't come through after the first paragraph....

Well everyone I tried to get Kevin into production again and failed. Looks like we are going through Dallas or Pacol....

I figured you were pullin my leg but my sarcasm detector is on the fritz :hillbilly:

As to fit and finish I'm posting this picture of what is reported to be one of their beds on a truck in their facility. I would pay close attention to the overall height of the bed (ie the distance from the bottom of the cab to the bottom of the bed side) as well as the tie down hooks. The bed looks more like an HJ47 bed than a FJ45 bed to me. I have been told by another of their vendors (in Canada) that they hand tap each item and have a lot of trouble with exact fit of items like windshield frames and doors. Also Pacol has informed me that they will not be taking any orders until December 2015 or after, due to the problems that the manufacturer is having getting steel in Columbia S.A.
